"This medical program had been a blessing and a curse for me. Like most TBI/disabled people like myself I was desperate and seeking help they offered living assistance with home rent and some bills. Supposedly other resources so i was quick to jump in there program but after 5 months i found a new program tailored to the actual individuals care, with real focus on work, growth, mental and medical health and getting me back into the real world. How ever at Communicare it was the exact opposite. I was misinformed from the start by there marketing team, i was given 0 opportunities to grow while in there care, I was not allowed to participate in any outings the program had, because i would not be a part of there free labor force and make jewellery, candles, etc that would be sold online for there companies profit and no responsibility of any kind where given to me. I was cornered an kicked out of there therapist office on site because i said "this feels like a adult day care", and i was asked to leave. There staff was so worried about appearances and being audited they had and did not offer me any help other than the residential financial aspect of things. In my first hand experience they where more concerned with there investors meetings they had at there Troy campus, where i attended, than they where with the actual care of the patients and client attending. They have a terrible cookie cutter one size fits all program, i even met with there program director and my case manager twice to find viable solutions. Only ones given where empty door promises that would only be followed through should i be compliant with there program and show up an make there products that they sell for profit. I did not agree nor felt that was morally/ethically right but it is all well masked an made too look like a treatment plan. In my time there i found no motivation, no care plan, no communication of my care plan, no transparency, no help just drowning and feeling lost and alone. I was simply stuck an a long for the ride while they made money of my time there. I have recently started a new program at a different place called Life Skills Village my current Physicist told me to try them and its a night an day difference from the professional approach and specialized care, with a actual care plan that i am included in on, all laid out for me where i can see an understand where i am headed in the future with hopes of reaching goals and different milestone markers on the way. i could go on an on about the terrible events that took place here at Communicare, the lies, the misinformation, the lack of help. but instead i strongly urge anyone to find alternative resources than this place, but i understand the desperation of not being able to pay bills and keep a roof over your head and why so many like me end up at places like Communicare only to find better options after we have been drug through the ringer for X amount of months. This is not a place you want to go unless you want to be taken care of an accomplish nothing and remain in limbo during your recovery. I prefer a proactive recovery an not staying in medical care the rest of my life but if thats what you want sign up than."
