"I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews published about this facility before becoming a patient last spring. My primary care doctor has always prescribed my anxiety and depression medications, but I felt like I would benefit more by regularly seeing a psychiatrist who would help me manage my medications. I started seeing a psychiatric nurse practitioner at heron ridge. We never met in person, but would video chat once a month for 10-15 minutes, which did not benefit me at all, but it was a requirement in order to continue receiving my medications. I was a very compliant patient and only canceled one appointment due to a medical emergency (I was at the hospital with a first degree burn). Heron Ridge tried to charge me a fee for missing that appointment even after I notified my NP about why I had to cancel. I lost my job and health insurance at the beginning of November of last year, so I was unable to schedule another appointment for the time being. My NP at Heron Ridge told me that their policy states that patients must be seen at least every 3 months to continue receiving their prescription medications. I was sure I’d get another job within the next month or two, so I wasn’t too worried. I was able to get a new health insurance plan which becomes active at the beginning of next month, so I scheduled my next appointment at Heron Ridge and asked the front desk if I could also get a prescription refill for the upcoming month until I am seen again at the beginning of February. They told me this wouldn’t be an issue (since 30 days had not yet passed since my last appointment) and they would pass along the request to my NP. I emailed my NP the following day to confirm the front desk had passed along my refill request to her and was met with an extremely rude email telling me not to bother her during business hours when she is with other patients. All I had done was simply sent an email to double check if my request had gone through, which could’ve been answered at any time that day when she was not with a patient. I did not need an immediate response. She went on to tell me not to contact her through email again and that all communication must be done through the front desk. Per her request, I contacted the front desk again to inquire about my refills to which I was told that my NP would not be sending my refills. These are psych meds that I have been on for over a year that cannot just be stopped cold turkey without severe side effects. I had to beg the receptionist at the front desk to please communicate this with my NP until she finally sent my refill in. The receptionist went on to tell me, “Come hell or high water, you better be at your next appointment if you’d like to continue being seen here.” I’ve never been treated so unprofessionally by any medical facility or staff until this experience at Heron Ridge. I felt very uncomfortable continuing to be a patient here and immediately made an appointment the next week with my primary care doctor so that I could return to having my medications prescribed by him. I am no longer a patient here and would highly recommend staying away from this unprofessional clinic."

"I was being sent bills in the mail repeatedly after being told that they were not going to charge me. I already paid $210.00 in appointments, and now they are insisting they charge me $235.00 with no explanation. Every month I call, they said they would stop sending me bills. This has happened 5 times. When I called today, understandably upset, Jules continously cut me off, and then hung up on me. These people do not conduct honest business practices, and they are also scam artists who try to take you for your money. NEVER do business with these folks."

"This place is slightly better than the nightmare that is New Oakland. My therapist seemed good initially but ultimately I did not improve in the 3 years I worked with her I also tried to get referrals for some family members and they were set up with therapists who never returned their calls. There was a time when I needed to talk to my therapist and I called her on a Monday in a mental health crisis and she did not call me back until the following Thursday. Although she apologized I suffered days of PTSD symptoms without help. The NP my therapist referred me to seemed ok but I had occasion to see her documentation about me and she was documenting that I was taking different meds and dosages than she was prescribing me which caused serious confusion as I am now trying to find a new provider for my meds. If you have the money please don’t go to Heron Ridge and avoid New Oakland. Unfortunately therapy is just like everything else, you get what you can pay for. Good luck out there"

"My fiancé has been a client here for years. The desk workers responsible for putting in his medication orders have repeatedly failed to do so in a timely manner, to the point of him having to call 2-3 times on average for a refill. Considering he is on medication that he can immediately feel the effect of not taking bc of how severe the withdrawal is for him, it is unacceptable"
