"He would be a good therapist if he did his job. I have been making appointments with him for months and each time he came up with an excuse for why he couldn't meet. He then made an appointment with me, gave me no link to the session, and ghosted me. I enjoyed the work he did with me when he cared about having me as a client but this is one of the worst experiences I have had."

"It’s great and all that this man has good reviews, but I had a very negative experience with him. He charged me and my insurance so he could get double the money and then when I would reach out to him about it, he would straight up ghost me. Also, his techniques are strange and although they may work for some, I had a negative experience where he physically burnt me with ice packs. I feel like a professional should know better than to put extremely cold ice packs on one’s bare skin. I hope anyone else has a positive experience with him, but just wanted to share my negative, for those who are looking for therapy. These pictures from the ice pack burns were from HOURS later!!"

"In the face of an industry focused primarily on simple talk therapy, Alex Dixon and his team stand as pioneers, leading the charge towards a future where trauma is treated both physically and emotionally through EMDR and somatic techniques. I could never find the words I would need to adequately thank Alex for what he has done (and continues to do) for my mental health. When I first reached out to him, I was extremely traumatized and barely functioning in my daily life. I was dealing with complex PTSD from the sudden and tragic deaths of my only sibling and then my very best friend barely three years later. I had also recently dealt with fertility issues and a miscarriage. Because I was located in the Grand Rapids area, Alex was willing to work with me virtually (even though he doesn’t prefer it). Eventually, I made the trek out to Plymouth for a weekend and did a 6 hour FMR session with Alex and Jessica that quite literally saved my life. The two of them spent an entire Saturday with me from 8am to 3pm, helping me to reprocess deep inner traumas with EMDR and somatic work. Throughout the process, they were both highly attentive to my needs and made me feel safe and supported in extremely vulnerable moments. The FMR experience is intense on both a physical and mental level but the sense of relief I felt at the end was indescribable. I continue to work with Alex on reinforcing the work we did during my FMR session and I can feel my personality shifting every day. I am now able to function in my daily life and find myself experiencing moments of calm and happiness that I no longer thought were possible after the trauma I endured. I couldn’t recommend anyone more highly than I do Alex. His care is genuine and his dedication to trauma work is absolute. If you are dealing with PTSD after trauma and are struggling to find a way out of the darkness, let Alex and his team be the light you need to guide you back to life."

"I’ve seen a few therapists, but Alex is the first to actually get me to a place where I’m enjoying life every day and not constantly falling in to a panic. We’ve been using a mix of EMDR, hypnotherapy, somatic work, and the craziest breathwork I’ve ever done to process a bunch of repressed trauma that I didn’t even remember at first, but was definitely negatively affecting everything for me. Alex isn’t judgmental or reactive , doesn’t waste half your session talking about himself, and really gives off a calm, open and supportive vibe that makes it really easy to get comfortable enough to dig deep, share and process the worst times of your life. HIGHLY recommend the FMR marathon session, having the time to really dig deep and pivot to process new things that come up throughout was like doing a year of therapy in one session, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it being adopted as a standard practice by most trauma therapists in the next few years."

"I have been going to Alex for therapy for the last couple years and am very happy with the progress we are making. Alex has been the first therapist I’ve worked with that truly uses a trauma-informed approach and it has made all the difference. Alex is realistic with goal-setting, supportive, provides resources and is reasonably reachable, should an emergency arise. We have utilized talk therapy, somatic therapy, hypnosis and EMDR, each with noticeable improvements in the obstacles we are working to overcome. I have felt safe and comfortable during our sessions and strongly recommend his services. Alex has a passion for his work and can help you heal too, if you’re willing to do your part. I cannot thank him enough for the difference he has made in my life. If you’ve read this far, just call and schedule an appointment; you’re worth it."
