Regency Hospital -Porter

"There are two Regency hospitals one in East Chicago In which was Exceptional and I'm thrilled that The Portage location had the same standards and level of care. Exceptional nurses,aids dietary and admin. It's great knowing my mom is being so well cared for !! Mom loves it to. I can't thank this team enough. I really wish ppl would post positive reviews instead of just negative ones because your loved ones could be missing out on Exceptional care. Highly recommend. Unfortunately mom has been battling stage cancer."

"My father was taken here after having a stroke. He was here almost a month and the staff is so uncoordinated. When you ask the staff a question they say" I don't know own you have to ask so and so." The respiratory staff was amazing and some of the nursing staff they were truely compassionate for their work while others not so much.Then when we were making plans to have him transfered to another facility it was so fast and the case manager was little to no help. She told my mom she would call and give her the time and date when he was to be transfered and never did. My mom went up there to see my dad and to find that he was already transferred over a hour away with no notice. Almost 3 hours prior to her coming back up to visit.The Staff wasn't sure how to respond only saying "she didn't call you?" This place needs to get its stuff together"

"My dad was taken here and I have never been so angry. The condition of this place is shameful. The mattress my father is laying on is stained and disgusting. It looks like someone sweat on it for years then it was stored in a wet basement then pulled out and my dad was put in it. It's foul. I'm angry. The nurses are rude and disrespectful to patients. I had to step in and tell a nurse to watch how she speaks to my father. I will be speaking to people on Monday as I can't reach anyone currently."

"Avoid this "hospital" at all costs! They are short staffed, my mom never got any help at night. They would come in and hit the button to turn off her call light but not help her. Then complain and nothing happens. Make a grievance and they say " we have a report of how soon we answered your mom's call light". Yes, but you didn't help her! If you bring your loved one here, be prepared to stay with then around the clock to make sure they get the care they need."

"On October 18th 2022 my husband was transferred from Indiana University Hospital Indianapolis IN to Regency Northwest Indiana Porter Hospital & he was there until November 30, he received exceptional care while here!! He couldn't even roll on his side without help when he arrived at Regency by the time of his release he was able to move on his own, he had to go to a facility for tracheostomy rehabilitation, this is where he became rehabbed off the trach & able to start eating food again. This facility was an hour away from home. The staff made us both feel better about me having to be so far away & also they were very caring about my commute in the sometimes harsh winter weather. He had great care from the doctors, nurses, aides, cleaning staff & last but definitely not least the therapy staff!! We couldn't be more pleased with his care with his Respiratory therapists, physical therapists & occupational therapists!! I would highly recommend this hospital."
