Big Dipper Ice Cream

"My family and I stopped by there last night after dinner. The employees working were very kind, but let us know that they were actually already closed. As we were walking away, a woman approached us, and overheard us talking about us showing up too late. She was the owner, and insisted on opening back up for us. She just asked that we give her a few minutes so she could get her employees finished up and on their way home-they were both teenagers and it was a school night. She helped them wrap up, then took our orders and served our ice cream herself. We were so touched by not only her willingness to help us out, but also her care and concern for her employees. It would have been very easy for her to not say anything, or let us continue on our way, and all of our nights would have continued as normal, but she went out of her way to make sure that we had a good experience."

"A nice hidden gem in Wayland. They have large portions for the price. The ice cream is delicious & a small ice cream is 3 scoops! They have a wide variety of fun shakes & a delicious Butter Beer shake yummy!"

"Based on our visits over the summer, this place primarily stays in business because it's the only ice cream shop in town. They are consistently slow and inaccurate. They also run out of various items on a regular basis, but will fail to tell you until you're waiting for your order. And if you had to pay extra for said item, that's too bad because they'll claim that they don't have the ability to issue partial refunds. They technically serve food as well, but I'm warning you against exposing yourself to it. When I made that mistake, the food was so awful that I gave up after two bites. And that was just a chili dog. 2021 Addition: kids asked if I'd give the place another shot, so we've made two trips there and that will be it for the year. You can order the same item repeatedly and get different items served each time. The soft serve is often half melted when it's served. The final straw was that today it took 17 minutes from ordering until we had ice cream in hand. Not to mention that we had to order twice because the first time they charged our card but forgot to make our orders."
