"Honestly I shop here alot on my lunch breaks, I work right near here. I won't bother to be going back. I'm super friendly when I'm in there but today the cashier decided to be rude to me. Dollar general is always friendly, I'll just go there. Should have looked at her name tag could have put her name in this review. Oh well. I'm not sure what happened to customer service these days."

"I came into the store in a positive manner. I picked up a shirt and a piece of wall art. When i came up to the register to see if they would discount a torn item Manager Tangella said no on the item discount. I didn't agree as I was told if there is a issue with the product not being 100% then it's discounted. She said no and I passed. I bought the tee then wanted to go out and pick something else if wanted and she grabbed my bag and said no infront of everyone implying I was a shoplifter. I literally had one item in the bag. When I went out to look for an item she was talking about me to the next customer in line and I had not even got more than a.few steps away. I grabbed my items went back in line and she told every customer infront of me to have a great day and said nothing to me.after I paid and called me a bit*h like I had already left the store. I am very disturbed and upset that a Store Manager would treat a customer this way."

"There are pros and cons to this store as any other store. I've never had issues here. Most recently I needed to return a box of diapers to the berrien springs location. The cashier there automatically said that without a receipt there was nothing she could do. Now, mind you, I did retail management and more for over 6 years and most if not all retails stores carry a policy that deals with no receipt issues. I frustrated as I walked in the door letting her know I did not have the receipt and I needed to exchange them for a more expensive brand which meant it would look good on their nightly report as it would impact their return rates negatively but their revenue would be impacted positively. I went back home to St. Joe and went into my regular family dollar. At first the manager told me I had to go to Berrien Springs which I completely understand as it would negatively impact their numbers in more ways that one, but I told her my experience and what transpired. She went ahead and took care of me by taking a box of diapers I did not buy at their store and allowed me to exchange them. I had already read up on their receipt policy for Family Dollar which clearly says up to 3 items within 30 days of purchase may be returned without a receipt and refund will be given based on the current price not the price at which the items were purchased. While not everyone has the same experience here, I continue to come here because I've not had a single issue with staff and I know how lazy retail employees can get in not doing their job. They do their job to the best of their ability considering every type of customer based store is short staffed, you're gonna get that entitled customer who didn't get enough whoopings, most times corporate doesn't do anything to help other than bark orders to meet "numbers" with broken systems, can get a good lunch break, etc. And to maintain a level of positivity is extremely difficult yet all my times here I've never heard anyone yell at a customer who is NOT always right."

"The store hours posted on the door and online are not followed by employees. It states open till 9:00. I’ve gone twice and the doors were locked at 8:40 and again at 8:45 and they won’t answer the phone, I tried calling for five minutes (before 9:00) on my 2nd return trip, to return an item I was charged for but something I wasn’t buying. And I could see the employees children running thru the store. The corporate people need to pay attention to what’s going on."

"As I was walking around the store today, I over heard the manager (red shirt, very flamboyant, didnt get his name) tell a coworker "wait until these last minute idiots come in here and ask for something that we are out of". Then as I walked past him again, the same two were talking about a robbery I think, and he was cursing. I paid for my items and left. I didnt want to be a last minute idiot."
