"I'm a local that's been stopping in here for years. I always loved this place; the fact that it stays open year-round and serves hot food is a plus! That said, they've recently gone downhill. I was willing to accept the fact that their prices have gone through the roof; most smaller stores have no choice in this economy. What I don't like is that the prices and deals they have marked are almost never what they charge at the register. The totals are way higher than they should be, and they never give receipts. I kept coming back to this place even after being ripped off multiple times, but the final nail in the coffin was during my last visit, not long ago. Most of the people that work here are very friendly, with the exception of an older woman with long, brownish hair. I assume she is the owner due to her demeanor, frequency of seeing her, and the subjects she has chatted about with others before. She is always grumpy with people, but this last time she was straight up rude and confrontational with me. This was entirely unprovoked. I made a nice, positive comment about the store and she quipped back at me with extreme disdain. I don't know what exactly triggered her this time, but I just don't want to put up with psychological abuse when I'm going to a convenience store. For your reference, I'm a younger, quiet woman and almost always avoid chitchat when I visit. I've always been a good customer and have gone out of my way to support this place over just driving to Walmart for better prices... Sadly, I now think I'll have to avoid this place altogether. Bad prices and charging more than advertised I can look past; bad service and plain rudeness is another thing altogether. Such a shame... Just drive the extra few miles to a store that doesn't hate to serve you."

"Better than "This old house". Great pizza but the BBQ chicken was completely unexpectedly good. Much better than chain pizzas, this is the stuff that isn't premade and put on bulk dough. Its made to eat, that matters."

"I visit the area from Phoenix each year to spend time with my parents, who have a home on Lake Huron between Cheboygan and Mackinaw. Cheboygan is a town with potential, but there isn't one restaurant I've found that I like, not in 8 years of visiting... except Alcock's. The sandwiches and pizzas are excellent, made with passion, and it's obvious they care about what they do... I say "they" but it's usually one woman in the back... we put our order in, then drive into town to run errands, and drive back and pick up our food, always given to us with a nice little message on the wrapper or box. My suggestion - any sandwich of course.... but my favorite pizza: I like to have them make a pizza with light cheese, extra sauce, hot pepper rings and pineapple, and ham if you're a meat person. It's absolutely delicious. Now, one day I'll bring them a banana and have them make a banana and pineapple pizza... sounds totally gross right? Actually, when banana is heated up the comforting sweetness comes out and it counter-balances the punch of pineapple. Trust me on this... it's delicious. Actually, while we're on the topic of my tangent, when you're barbecuing place a banana in foil with some butter and a little sugar and cinnamon... heaven. Go to Alcock's, support a local business, and reward them for doing something right by dropping your money here. Or, search around Cheboygan and Mackinaw, try out 60 awful restaurants, and then go back to Alcock's."
