"Reviews on here had me nervous but we ended up having a wonderful stay at the Lake Trail Treehouse and had a good experience booking directly through the company website. It was probably the nicest rental anyone in the group had stayed at and had so many thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. The property manager responded quickly to inquiries and we had no issues getting our deposit back in a timely manner. I would highly recommend!"

"We had an awesome stay in Saugatuck for a golf trip. Ethan was a great host and the house met and exceeded our expectations. I can't wait to return"

"We spent a week at a Quaint Cottages property. Overall, the house was great for our needs, if a little bit dated/worn. Through the week we did notice several small issues. Most significantly, the back door did not latch properly (and therefore did not lock) – so we had to watch our toddler extra closely to make sure she didn’t leave the house or end up in an unsafe situation. Multiple light bulbs were burned out, and we noticed several small stains on carpets throughout the house. The hot tub did not work properly and there were no instructions provided on its use, so we did have to call the management company to have a worker come fix it for us the second day of our stay. When we left the property, we honestly planned to book it again in future years due to the location and overall quality of the amenities. However, the property owner/manager – Ethan Barde – was incredibly rude to us after our departure, and we therefore will never stay at a Quaint Cottages property again (and would discourage anyone we know from staying at one of their properties, as well). The day after we departed, Mr. Barde emailed me directly (instead of using the property rental app we rented through) and accused us of causing a stain on a carpet. The photo he provided was tightly cropped, and it was difficult for us to tell where it was. After he said which room, we clarified that we had barely used that room (our toddler’s pack and play was set up in one corner, we carried her in and out of the room each morning/night) – and never been anywhere near the part of the room where the stain was. It was on an exterior wall, so we suggested it may have been a leak or a previously existing stain. In our reply, we also described the minor maintenance issues we had noticed, saying we wanted them to be aware before the next renters arrived. Mr. Barde replied only with a one sentence email, simply stating which room had the stain. He then left me a terrible review with the property rental app – one that still confuses me. He stated that we had horrible communication, which is confusing because we replied to his accusatory email in a clear and polite way. We attempted to provide useful feedback. And when we did have an issue with the hot tub, we contacted the management company as directed and spoke via phone. He also said we broke house rules. This was despite following all directions provided including gathering laundry, starting the dishwasher, and taking all trash outside. (The trash cans had been moved several hundred yards down the road the night before our departure, so we honestly thought we were being helpful by taking the trash where the cans would be returned, we assumed, after trash day.) This was in addition to a very significant cleaning fee we paid upon renting the home, so we struggle to see what more could have been asked of us as renters. The negative review Mr. Barde left felt unreasonable and vindictive after we were unable to explain a problem that we are certain we did not cause. Instead of treating us, the guests with courtesy or basic human decency, he was rude and aggressive. He turned a pleasant family vacation into a sour experience, and we will actively avoid doing business with him in the future."

"I don’t know how this business continues to operate. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Edit to add information. I called, left voicemails, texted, and emailed multiple times to get my security deposit back. I shouldn’t have had to reach out at all, given the fact we left the cabin spotless. It should have just been returned, in accordance with the rental agreement. No one even bothered to apologize or explain why it took so long to return the deposit, or why all my attempts to reach someone were ignored. They only returned the deposit when I actually disputed the charge with my credit card company."

"Beware, you cannot trust Quanit Cottages or their reservations! We rented and paid for a top four bedroom cottage two years ago, and revised it directly with their GM a little more than a year ago due to Covid and the wedding being pushed. We paid almost $5,000 and got a email confirming the change and receipt of the money. Then, this July, before our entire family was to arrive for my niece's wedding from all over the country, we were informed we had no reservation, they still had the money, and sorry. They claimed we did not send them more information (we had their email and receipt of the money, which they then refunded quickly claiming they had done that some time ago (not true). So, we had to pay another $1,400 to book the last place in Sagatuck (and most expensive) to save the day. Quanit Cottages would not help in any way. My family and I rent such places all over the country, and have never had such a thing happen, being treated so poorly and have the Operators not even respond to make things right. We all can say, BEWARE of this company if you are renting anything in the Michigan area. Good luck, Dave Lumley."
