Reviews
"Falcon Landing Apartments are a decent housing option for graduate students and faculty/staff at BGSU. You can’t beat the all-inclusive rent, full set of furniture, 24/7 maintenance, and convenient location near campus. The bedrooms are spacious and it’s awesome to have a washer/dryer unit in each apartment. When I was looking for alternative housing options last October, Amanda was incredibly communicative and helped me through every step of the leasing process. She always remembered my name when I went into the leasing office to pick up a package or pay my rent. Brittany is fantastic, as well. Shortly after I moved in, I began to experience a series of bathroom and window leaks for several months. I understand that the buildings are 50-60 years old, but they truly need to be renovated/updated. Tenants certainly pay enough money in rent for this to happen. The maintenance team (shout out to Rob, Victor, and Jake!) was super friendly and very responsive to maintenance requests and work orders, even after hours and over the weekends. Beginning in April, I experienced an annoying pest issue that took several months to get under control. (In fact, it was never truly resolved before I moved out…) Know that if you live in a first-floor unit here, you’re half underground and might see some unwelcome creatures. I was also incredibly spooked when a live bat entered the building and was crawling around the floor outside my apartment door in May. Another thing to note is that 10-month leases are not offered for tenants who lease a full apartment unit. Since BGSU's commencement ceremonies are held in April, many students may not want to sign a 12-month lease and continue paying rent through the end of July. Due to these reasons/issues, I did not renew my lease for the 2023-24 school year. I feel that I spent way too much money on rent here for all the issues that I encountered. If you do choose to sign a lease at Falcon Landing Apartments, here are a few helpful tips of advice: 1. Avoid parking directly underneath the large trees in the parking lot. Numerous birds hang on their branches and may poop all over your vehicle. 2. If you live in a first-floor unit like I did, you may want to invest in some glue traps for insects. They’re cheap and accessible both online and in grocery stores. 3. Purchase some extra box fans for the warmer months. The wall-mounted A/C unit and bedroom ceiling fans aren’t enough to keep you cool when it’s 80+ degrees outside. 4. The beds are advertised as Full-sized mattresses, but they’re closer to a Full XL/Queen. Make sure to bring Queen sized bedding. 5. Do not hesitate to contact BGSUPD for after-hour emergencies. They are incredibly helpful and always willing to contact maintenance for late night and/or weekend emergencies. 6. BGSU is consistently slow at cashing checks. Regardless of when/how you pay monthly rent, the check may not be cashed for 7-10 business days. Make sure you have enough funds in your account for whenever the payment is processed."
"Amanda is easy to work with as a leasing agent and site manager. Her concern for our wellbeing is obvious. I’m happy to have spent time here at, Falcon Landing, my home away from home."
"I thought living in graduate housing versus an apartment would be better, but I was wrong. I was highly dissatisfied while living at Falcon Landing. They did a terrible job matching individuals together, which was my number one issue. One of my roommates was so awful I had to stay at a hotel for almost two weeks halfway through the semester. I suffered from post-traumatic stress from what I experienced while living at Falcon Landing. I was also disappointed in the management team and how they handled certain situations. I advise anyone looking into Falcon Landing Apartments because they are “convenient” to look elsewhere. Updated response: I find it strange that they had no communication from me when there were ongoing issues. All emails, photos, and documents must have been deleted on their end but definitely not mines."
"I loved staying in falcon landing. I actually lived there for all 2 years of my MA program. It's nice that utilities are included in rent and the apartments are spacious. It's also close to campus and the leasing process was easy to navigate, especially for someone who couldn't afford traveling to BGSU again to tour apartments. Management is pretty friendly and responsive. The only problem I had was an extremely incompatible roommate even though I filled out a roommate matching form. She ended up moving out based on her own will and I got paired with someone more compatible."
"The only positives about this complex are that it is close to the campus and that all of your utilities are included in the rent. That's about it though. Before moving in, all residents fill out a housing form so that "they can match you with someone compatible". I doubt that they ever even looked at those forms. My roommate and I were not compatible in anyway. She refused to clean anything in the apartment, saying that it was my job to clean everything. I never saw her use any of her cleaning supplies that were in our hall closet. But apparently when I cleaned, I did not do it how she wanted it, which would just cause her to try and instruct me on how to clean. Half the time while I was living there, her boyfriend also lived with us, making the space cramped. Her boyfriend's daughter would also end up staying at the apartment alone. I would walk from my room to find a little girl alone in the living room! Apparently they thought that I was a live-in babysitter. My roommate would also allow her boyfriend to use my personal belongings, so I ended up hiding all of my things in my bedroom. At one point, her boyfriend menaced me (cornered me in the kitchen) and I decided that enough was enough. When I went to management, they said that there was nothing they could do about it. I was confused; one of their tenants feels that their safety is at risk and you can't do anything about it? That's messed up! I could have continued living there until the end of August but moved out as soon as I could because I was tired of being screwed over. In conclusion, don't live here...ever."
