"I have been communicating intermittently with the owner since 2022. The main issue was my scheduling/availability as the owner at the time was looking for people to start working between 3-4pm. I last contacted the owner some time at the end of 2022/beginning of 2023, and at the time was told that there might be a possibility of openings with later start times. I made contact not long after, and left a voicemail message that was never responded to. I went to apply for a role on 5/18/2023 that was posted on Indeed, but decided to give a phone call as well. Upon calling, I was met with complete rudeness after telling the owner that we had been in contact intermittently. The professional thing to do would have been to state that he did not remember our conversations, but extend a willingness to hear me out. Considering that I have been seeing positions here and there on Indeed for the company, it leads me to believe that the owner's lack of professionalism could be contributing to a constant need for people. I noticed that several people have posted favorable reviews while others have not. I hope that certain people have not been treated unfairly due to some implicit bias on behalf of the owner because in this day and age being African American, when dealing with white americans, I cannot leave the possibility unacknowledged that there was an implicit bias at play during the call, or in any dealing with white americans depending on the circumstances. If the owner was too busy or did not have the time to talk, then he had the option to simply not answer the phone. Now I wonder if an implicit bias is why none of my phone calls have been returned in the past, and potentially was at play during the call today."
