Reviews
"This used to be my favorite museum in Cleveland until they started renovating. As of 1/3/24 about 80% of exhibits are closed. The areas that are open include the child zone for under 7 years old and the outdoor live animal exhibits. The cafeteria, gift shop, upper level art gallery (very small), lower level and main foyer have all been renovated with a handful of things to see in the foyer/great hall to see. Admission is still full price, so to off-set the lack of experience, they allow you to attend a 3D show in auditorium (remodeled) and planetarium both for free. Their anticipated opening date for the main part of the museum (pretty much all other exhibits) is Dec 2024! I’d suggest to not go until after then. …can’t wait to update my review in spring of 2025."
"During my recent visit to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, I had the opportunity to attend some excellent educational sessions. The museum is currently undergoing renovations, and while there may not be a plethora of exhibits available at the moment (reason fot 4/5 stars), the staff assured me that exciting additions are on the horizon. The highlight of the current collection is undoubtedly the two large dinosaur skeletons, which are both impressive and captivating. The educational sessions provided valuable insights, demonstrating the museum's commitment to offering informative experiences to its visitors. While the ongoing renovations may limit the number of exhibits currently on display, the potential for much more in the future is promising. I appreciate the museum's dedication to enhancing its offerings, and I look forward to returning to explore the expanded and renovated collections. For those interested in educational content and the fascinating world of dinosaurs, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History is already worth a visit, with even more to anticipate in the near future."
"So the museum is partially opened as of October 15, 2023. The visitor center is open to the public, Balto, Lucy and Happy are on public display. The wildlife center is fully opened as well as the gift shop and cafe. Currently the bottom floor has a discovery center that’s great for kids and has the cast of Lucy’s skeleton. The second floor has a small art gallery. While the visitor center and wildlife center is fully opened, the museum as a whole won’t be open until December 2024. I would still recommend seeing the visitor center along with the wildlife center. It’s still a great place to go for the family."
"While visiting Cleveland, we decided to check out this museum. Unfortunately we didn't look into it much and were totally unaware that they are under construction and most things you would hope to see were all off exhibit. The staff were helpful and so kind, as we debated if we should find something else to do or stick around. The 3d movies were both cool, the wilderness exhibit was awesome, and the planetarium was possibly my favorite part. If we are ever in Cleveland again we will definitely return to see everything. 5 stars all day."
