"I called to make an appointment for my 14 1/2-year-old daughter. The only symptom she had was an earache and crying that her ear was bothering her. No other symptoms. I told the receptionist this when I called to make the appt. when I got my check in paperwork, the only thing I put on there was an ear ache. No other symptoms. I was unable to attend the appt. so her step dad brought her for me. I told him not to let them inject her with anything and do not let them give her a Covid test for an EARACHE! Dr.Rankin came in to see her and diagnosed the ear infection when she came in with the prescription she then asked if they could administer a Covid test. When it was declined she began to explain stats and saying that allergies are symptoms of Covid! My daughter does not have allergy symptoms and no one in that office was told anything other than an earache. I am appalled to hear the turn the appointment took at this point. From the patient care to the mood and tone of the appointment! We will NEVER again see Dr Rankin and are likely going to be switching offices all together. If they thought a Covid test was necessary why didn’t they ask about a flu test or strep test or anything else the only thing They asked about was a Covid test no you cannot shove something up my daughters nose when she has no other symptoms! I am beyond disgusted with this office at this moment! Oh and my family is not anti Covid. We have had plenty of tests for all 5 of us when the symptoms warranted it! Dr Rankin is not fit to be a caregiver in my opinion. Caregivers should not cram bs stats down your throat and make you feel like you are doing a disservice when it is indeed not warranted!"

"My son has had a fever for 4 days now. Nurse returned my phone call - which means they should know who they are talking about. Absolutely NOT the case. She has no freaking clue about anything- not even his age. She thought my son was 2. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at a doctors office."

"I have been going to Northeast Cincinnati Pediatrics for 3 years and have seen many of the doctors there. They have all been consistent with their billing EXCEPT for Dr. Rankin. I took my daughter to a doctor at the practice for some symptoms, and was told if the symptoms didn't get better to come back again in 2 days. I came back 2 days later and my daughter was seen by Dr. Rankin for the exact same symptoms as the previous doctor. She did not do anything differently or more than the other doctor, yet when we got the bill, it was almost $100 more than the other doctor in the same practice had charged! Sick visit charges are consistent with any other doctor at Northeast Cincinnati Pediatrics, but both times my daughter has been seen by Dr. Rankin she has charged almost $100 more than the others. If she were a better doctor or was more thorough I would understand, but she absolutely is not. When I called billing about it they said they would talk to her about the charges, however I never got a call back. I finally called them weeks later to follow up, and the billing department said that she did more than the other doctor (which is a lie). I am very frustrated and feel that she is dishonest in her charges."

"Lack of consistency in billing practices! We've been taking both of our daughters to NE Pediatrics Landen office for 3+ years without issue until recently. My daughter was seen by Dr. Rankin for a non-emergency issue and she spent at most 10 minutes in the office with us. Her demeanor was acceptable, but not overly friendly. The majority of the visit was spent with her back to us typing on the computer. We received our bill today and to our surprise, it was billed as a "moderately complex" office visit. That translated to us paying $250 when we're typically billed ~$100. The billing office has been condescending and arrogant when speaking to us over the phone. We were not provided any explanation as to why our visit was so expensive other than "Dr. Rankin is great at billing". We asked to speak to an office manager and Cindy promptly placed us into voicemail. Beware that your office visit costs may wildly fluctuate based on the codes Dr. Rankin feels like entering for the day - and you don't have any recourse. Don't get us wrong, we're willing to pay higher for services provided if the situation is urgent/complex, but a 10 minute office visit for a typical teenage virus should be billed as low complexity case according to our insurance company. This entire situation has left us realizing the NE Cincinnati Pediatric office and Dr Rankin do not care about providing quality patient care, but rather generating revenue through predatory and confusing billing practices."
