"This is my first time coming to a MSW and will probably be my last. I think there are significant training differences between MSWs and LPCs in terms of helping clients process emotions and experiences without passing judgement or directing the session. I only had two sessions with Edna and I felt as though she completely invalidated my experience and had no direction of trying to understand me as a client. It's bewildering because I've seen multiple therapists and talked about this subject multiple times and never been met with her approach. I only went to Edna bc I moved down to Cinci and was referred. Yes, people who go through abuse experience abuse and people who are around those individuals experience second-hand abuse, which is not as traumatic but still unsettling. Edna invalidated my experience and processing of this in a way that I could never recommend her to anyone. One thing that I'm learning about in my schooling is that the client is the expert of their lives. Edna doesn't believe so. I know what not to do in my practice and I recommend Edna pays for extra supervision."
