"Someone named Emily left a msg on my voicemail stating I had an appointment on the 23rd of the month and she couldn't verify my medical benefits. I called back to ask questions but never heard from her so finally I called the appointment center today and they researched it; after leaving me on hold, they came back and said not to worry because I don't have any appointment there. It was someone else and she mixed my name up with them. I can see how that might happen if I had been a patient there but I haven't. But most annoying about this is she could have been considerate enough to call back and say, "Disregard the previous call you had from us because it wasn't you we were trying to reach." Where do they find these incompetent people?"

"It’s kind of my fault for not reading these terrible reviews first, but definitely don’t waste your time with this place. Gave 3 stars because the lady I spoke to when I scheduled my appointment was really nice. However, it would have been nice to know that they didn’t accept my insurance instead of waiting until the day of my appointment to call me and cancel my appointment. I told them my insurance upfront so why was the appointment scheduled in the first place and why wait until the day of the appointment to cancel on us! My wife and I were really excited to speak with someone about her first pregnancy now we’re scrambling to find someone to see her at 8 weeks pregnant"

"I don’t recommend this place at all. Front desk was nice but Dr. Jenkins kept interrupting me and it just felt like he wanted to hear himself talk. I tried to explain to him that my bloodwork came back abnormal after I did a second test at a lab and he didn’t want to hear about it or see the results. Everything I said he just negated me. He did an ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries and did a good job of explaining but he just would not let me get a word in. Not even a “do you have any questions?” at the end. I felt rushed and honestly I didn’t believe half the stuff he said. He said there’s no such thing as a hormonal imbalance while on birth control but my other OB through Ohio health said differently. I don’t recommend coming here, there’s far better OBGYN offices in Columbus."

"I love Dr. Cook and have been seeing her for a few years now at different locations and I have never had a bad experience. Upon visiting this location, I unfortunately didn’t have a good experience starting off in the waiting room. Based on other reviews this seems to be a recurring issue. The front desk girl was incredibly unprofessional. She didn’t greet me and looked very annoyed. When she asked if anything has changed I asked what insurance they have on file and proceeded to ask if my now ex husband is still the policy holder to which I replied no. She then just kept staring at me so I thought she didn’t hear so I repeated “no he’s not”. She then just very annoyed asked “well then who is it?!”. To me this is incredibly unprofessional, especially with the attitude she gave off. I watched her interact with other patients coming in, and her attitude was never great. As someone who has worked at a medical office as a front desk associate, this behavior is unacceptable to me. I understand this job can be stressful at times, but the waiting room was completely empty when I came in and the front desk girl even had a minute to play with her phone and watch a video out loud. Upon check out there was a different front desk associate and she was also incredibly rude and dismissive! Gave me the most annoyed look, didn’t offer to schedule my next appointment and just told me “yeah you’re good to go” and turned away from me. I’m definitely not happy with the front desk service and feel like this should be corrected since it has been brought up in multiple reviews. EDIT To add, I’m not sure if this is due to recent change in system etc, but Dr. Cook didn’t seem to know anything about my medical past. She even asked me the reason for the medication she prescribed years ago even though it was a part of an ongoing issue we’ve been treating for the past few years. This was a little confusing and a little alarming that she can’t see that in my chart/look it up prior to my appointment. I understand the providers are extremely busy, but we all put a lot of trust in our providers with our health so this was a little disappointing as I’ve always been extremely happy with her care."

"I really liked both the doctors I saw (Drs. Diaz and Orwick) - they were kind, took time to listen to me, and were very knowledgeable. However, the overall practice has a bunch of issues. First, they have advertisements for Cool Sculpting everywhere you look. For those who don't know, Cool Sculpting is a weight loss procedure. I found it very off-putting that a clinic that is supposed to be focused on women's health would lean into women's insecurities around weight and body image. Second, the staff there always seem unhappy. They're often testy with each other and impatient with patients. To me, that's indicative of a problem with management - if everyone is unhappy, that means management is creating an unhealthy environment. Third, there is one non-White lab tech, and the others always treat her as though she's slow and doesn't speak English, neither of which is true - she's highly skilled and although she speaks with an accent, she has no difficulty understanding. But they talk over her like she's an idiot, and I really don't like to see people of color treated like second class citizens. Fourth, my husband and I had a highly negative interaction with one of the nurses. The visit was meant as an intake when we first found out I was pregnant, to learn more about the standard of care that Avina offers during pregnancy. But the nurse was clearly rushed and only spent about 10 minutes with us (we had been told half an hour), brushing past our questions and making us feel stupid for even asking. Further, we had been told that it was a visit for "confirmation of pregnancy," but I was not given a pregnancy test during the visit - as far as we could tell, they just took my word for it based on my home test results. I would have written this off as one bad apple, but following that, Avina billed our insurance $200 for this visit, saying that it was a "diagnostic medical exam" and not part of the routine prenatal care that is fully covered by my insurance. And they said they ran a pregnancy test, which was news to me! So now I'm being billed over $100 (after what my insurance does cover) for pretty much no service. Finally, I have overall had negative interactions with their billing department, receiving multiple bills for the same services (even after they were paid), and being unable to get through when I called with billing questions - it took them almost three weeks to get back to me. In short, they have good doctors on staff, but the administration leaves a lot to be desired. It seems like a commercial venture that bought up a bunch of independent practices and will likely run them into the ground, because the corporation cares more about money than about people. I switched to a different practice, and I've felt a lot better cared for - by the whole organization."
