"Cooking class review! My boyfriend and I wanted to do something different this year for Valentine's Day so what better than a date night cooking class with an "Evening in Paris"? I was so excited, as was he. We are extremely bummed by this "experience", if not actually irate. I left the class starving and we had to go get dinner elsewhere at 9:30pm. If I knew what I did today then I would have not booked this class. I felt validated seeing a review with a similar experience but soon that will vanish. I will also be sending an email to the company. Atmosphere: Basic, small industrial kitchen packed with people. There were 8 couples in total and to my surprise, we had to share our meal with another couple. It turned into a small group project versus a couples project. We were crammed and standing the entire time (2.5 hours). Food: This is not a dinner experience but rather a taste tester. The portions are extremely small, and we barely did anything to feel included in the cooking process. I honestly cannot tell you what we really did. I chopped carrots and folded Souffle, the only reason I did both was because the chef asked for a volunteer, and I jumped on it. I was the most upset about the portions of food we received. We each received 1 bone-in chicken thigh, 1/4 of the salad bowl which amounted to about 1.5 cups of greens with minimal dressing (it was basically dry) and a small chocolate souffle. Overall rating is honestly a 2/5. I don't blame our chef because this is the company she works for. She likely does not make the rules but for $89 per person, I at least expected to be sitting down and eating an actual dinner. However, she was telling us "stories" the entire time about other people who have taken the class, in order to control how we behaved. "Jessica" in the last class went and had drinks next door during the 10 minute break and came back drunk so don't be like Jessica. (FYI you are allowed to bring 1 bottle of wine per couple). "Mike" always had something to say and at the end of the class told her he was going to leave and go eat "real food" (can we blame Mike?). Anyway, It just was not a good experience at all and felt like a waste of time. I attached a picture of the final result of what we made. Bon Appetit..."

"I went to a class and it was amazing! I finally learned how to properly make a macaron, which I have been trying to get right for years. I can't wait to make authentic, French macarons for my friends and family now! Thank you Sur La Table for amazing service and kind staff!"

"Sur La Table is a wonderful place to enjoy a night out with a loved one! Their cooking classes offer an incredible opportunity to pick up new skills and learn about diverse cuisine. This location in particular is amazing with kind staff, a clean kitchen, and incredible service. I was able to take a cooking class here for the first time with my partner yesterday as an early valentine's day celebration and the chef teaching our lesson was funny, kind, and helpful. An Evening in Paris offered us a taste of delightful French cuisine that we will definitely recreate at home soon. Thank you to Sur La Table for making our Valentine's so special!"

"The cooking classes have progressively gotten worse over the years. The portions have gotten smaller and they took away the chairs (seriously). They expect you to stand for multiple hours cooking and then stand to *eat the meal you just made.* I stand to eat leftover pizza, not for a multiple course meal that I paid almost $100 for and spent hours making. Completely ridiculous. When asked about it, they said that they felt the chairs were an "eye sore" and that people were staying too long after the class. Taking them away was an effort to get people to leave faster. They don't care about your comfort or enjoyment. Sign up for a cooking class anywhere else."
