Applebee's Grill + Bar

"This is for the Willoughby location. Although the Mentor one is just as bad. Worked at both for a long time. They just changed over all management and not for the better. Cooks are underpaid and don’t care about the food. More microwaves on the line then grill. Lol. For the price the food isn’t worth it. I honestly wouldn’t let my people eat there because I was embarrased by it. Trust me…go elsewhere. In general this is how the nooks and crannies of the kitchen look. Drinks barely have any alcohol and are overpriced. If it isn’t dollar margarita don’t waste your money. Dont’t be fooled by positive reviews. Most are company plants or employees friends and family who didn’t pay anything. Don’t take my word for it…go find out for yourself how bad it is. Lol. Like going to the circus. Worked at both the Mentor and Willoughby stores as a cook. The managment treat the hourly employees like trash. Basically they value management and look at hourly employees as expendable and don’t really ever invest or develope them. Including the cooks. Thats why the food is so bad. I was hired during covid when they were starting at $18 an hour. As soon as covid was over and wages began to fall they did everything they could to get rid of me and anyone else making a high hourly wage and replaced all the cooks with kids making way less. And only giving about 25-30 hours a week on top of it. Thats why the place is falling apart. The management gets paid trips and vacations like 10 times a year and the rest of the workers cant even get decent affordable insurance or retirement. They even get bonuses for keeping labor super low. Because of that none of the workers care.Extremely Oppresive environment for anyone trying to be a good worker. And the worst offenders are the management. Worst place I’ve ever worked. Got so bad I quit a job paying me $19 an hour. Got to the point I’d be sick to my stomach knowing I had to go work in such a toxic place. As Americans we can’t tolerate or support companies like this. Bad for everyone involved except the people pocketing our hard earned money laughing at us on their $7,000 couches."

"The best part of the Applebee's was the bathrooms was clean. We should have put our name on the restaurant across the street that had an hour wait. We sat right away but it took over an hour to get our food. 2 meals came out in 15 minutes then 45 minutes later the rest. Our chicken was not even cooked. Completely raw. Also was out of a drink and some of the food we ordered. The waitress always disappeared and always were waiting. We won't be back."

"It's a chain family restaurant, not bad but not great. This particular restaurant was actually quite clean and I will say that the bathrooms are actually very clean. The food was perfectly fine. My fries came out a little cold and my wife got the fiesta lime chicken and turned out the rice was actually very hard and the chicken was potentially undercooked. Otherwise the burger I got was quite good, my mom got their steak and it was tender and a good medium doneness. The chicken and shrimp platter was very good and the the chicken was perfectly cooked actually."

"They were very short staffed, but they maintained service very well. I was impressed how they all worked together with each other. This was my first time at this location. I will definitely go again !!"

"I would not typically go to Applebee's. But the 2023 all you can eat promotion got my attention. The promotion is all you can eat boneless wings, riblets, and shrimp. The biggest surprise was the shrimp. The shrimp were bigger than I expected. The boneless wings were also very good. The service was stand out. There was always hot fresh food in front of us."
