"I brought my 82-year-old mother to Anderson Mercy Hospital after she fell and injured her back. Despite undergoing both a CT scan and an X-ray, they discharged her, stating there were no fractures, attributing her pain to a pulled muscle or bruising. However, after enduring three days of agony at home, it was discovered that she had a dislocated rib. How could such a significant issue have been missed? This experience has shattered my confidence in Anderson Mercy's competence and care. I wouldn't even trust them with my deceased loved ones, fearing they might mishandle their remains. Never again will I seek treatment there."
"If not for 1 nurse I would have given more stars for the nurses that were sweet & professional. My 91 year old mom was admitted. Night nurses were fantastic. Her day nurse Maddie didn’t know how to handle a patient with dementia. Mom being confused & didn’t know where she was, tried to gather things to go home, this nurse ‘for punishment’ took her water glass & the 3 hours I was there never came in to ck on her, never brought her anything to drink, my sister came as I was leaving & she too had to ask the nurse for a glass of water which took 45 minutes (while she sat playing on her phone laughing with the other nurses.) my sister got her again & she was rude & said she has other patients & mom shouldn’t have tossed her other glass on the floor that morning. She said my mom was being rude. That isn’t the way my mom acts. I’m sure mom was confused & persistently asking to go home but learn how to treat dementia patients. Not their fault."
"I want to Thank the Scan Department for going beyond the call of service when going for a simple CAT scan. The workers TIm and Robin were just wonderful and so helpful. Our car would not start in the parking lot and Tim insisted I let him take my AAA card out to my husband waiting in the car since it was raining cats and dogs. He had let me out and I was to call him so he could pick me up at the door when I was finished. Needing the AAA card which I had in my purse at the time Tim located my husband and delivered the card to him allowing us to get the help we needed. This was not a problem that the security folks could help with. Robin took over and cared for my procedure while Tim was helping aid in out outside issue. My thanks to the team for being our guardian angels on Friday January 13. We have always had good experiences at the hospital and are very appreciative of their service."
"I recently gave birth at this hospital. Although my midwife team and delivery team was absolutely amazing, my postpartum care team was not. This was my first pregnancy and birth and I was not given any instructions for aftercare (while in the hospital and at home). All of the nurses seemed to be MIA and would leave me and my newborn alone for hours at a time. A couple of the nurses were very friendly and nice, however the care seemed lacking. There were also a few nurses who were rude and seemed like it was a burden to take care of us. When they did come in, they only checked my vitals and then would leave. There wasn’t any communication. If I had questions, they wouldn’t know the answers so they said they would find out, but never returned with an answer. I was clueless as this was my first time ever being in a hospital and with a newborn. They didn’t explain to me that I could order meals, shower, use the hospital breast pump, etc. One of the lactation specialists seemed to have only wanted to talk about alcohol consumption and breast feeding, after I told her I do not drink. I recently found out information regarding my baby’s birth certificate and social security card on my own, the hospital didn’t give me any information for this. I should have asked more questions while I was there but it’s hard to even know what to ask when it’s your first time and your sleep deprived, in pain, and well… just had a baby"
"$1200 for literally nothing. Walk in with an infection on my thumb that is worsening quickly and dermatologists can't see me for 6 months, and this was my last option. I got asked a bunch of questions about my health unrelated to my thumb. A lady walks in to bill me $1200. I ask her what kind of treatment I'm going to receive for $1200 and she says doesn't know. It would've been $1500 if I didn't pay on the spot and she said that I have no option but that whether I walked out at that point or stayed for treatment. I reluctantly signed. Turns out, all they did was an X-ray, and a 3 minute look at my thumb just to say "I don't know, go somewhere else". Also turns out, that X-ray was another $300 on top of the $1200. What was the $1200 for? I never received any treatment. I was told to go somewhere else. I am scared to go here again if I have another emergent issue because I'm afraid they won't do anything but take my money. Hello? I need medical treatment, that's what I came here for, not because I feel charitable. Edit: Now they are charging another 2 grand because, get this, insurance won't cover non-emergent issues. The $1200 charge is considered to be for a moderately severe issue. AND they are charging another $500 for the physician who looked at my hand for 30 SECONDS and said "I don't know, go somewhere else". How is a moderately severe issue that cannot be seen by a specialist for 6 months not considered emergent? Why are they even billing my insurance when they already billed me $1200 for literally nothing? Why doesn't this entire thing cost more than a few hundred dollars? Why didn't they actually do something about my emergent issue like I came there for? A grand total of maybe 20 minutes of work went into the process of not even helping me, and this is a 4 thousand dollar ordeal. Who is making twelve thousand dollars an hour here? Because I want their job."
