"I normally don’t post negative reviews. However, I feel the need to warn people! We were in the market looking for a house to rent when I was contacted by the owner of a house that she had listed with Century 21 Nature Coast. So she had me contact the property manager Janice who works for this company. We met with her to look at the house and although not the nicest person, I loved the house! I told her everything about credit etc up front before we put in our application which she said would be fine! We paid the $100.00 application fee. Instead of just putting myself, I added my husband too. Well, I received a call from her saying that when she pulled his background report “she was blown away” in her exact words! I explained to her that he is a disabled vet, has PTSD and made some bad choices over 20 years ago but since then he has even worked as a Deputy Sherriff for the Sherriffs department within the last 5 years! She didn’t want to hear any of that! She was stuck on some things he did( minor) after he got out of the Army over 20 years ago! We even we’re going to put all deposits along with 3-6 months rent down up front! None of that mattered. She is just a mean, hateful person! When we put the application in, we walked thru the house and their was old furniture, a mattress and lots of junk out in the garage. When I asked her about that stuff being moved out by the time we moved in, she said that we just needed to store it because they don’t have people to move it!! So basically she expected us to pay rent to store the owners belongings because she didn’t want to deal with it! After she denied our application, I called and asked her about our 100.00. She said there was no way we were getting that back! So we lost out on money and had a horrible experience! We ended up renting with an awesome company that did extensive credit and background checks and found a way better house with a pool!! I’m glad that it happened in a way because we ended up with a better property! When we told our current property manager what she did, she said that she descriminated against us! What she did was illegal and had no right! So my husband called her and confronted her on it and let her know that it’s discrimination and all she could do was be hateful again! We never got our application money back and I guess I just want to let people know our horrible experience so that it doesn’t happen to anyone again! If u have ANYTHING on your background or credit report that has happened in your LIFETIME, u can forget about getting a house for rent!"
