About the Business

Estero Bay Preserve State Park

Estero Bay Preserve State Park is a natural oasis located in Fort Myers, Florida. Visitors can explore the diverse ecosystems of the park through numerous miles of rugged trails, where they can encounter a variety of native wildlife and vegetation. The park is accessible from two land locations, offering different opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing.

At the Winkler Point entrance, visitors can traverse trails along coastal marshes and maritime hammocks, providing excellent opportunities to observe birds and other wildlife. The Estero River Scrub entrance features four separate trails that lead through mesic flatwoods, scrub, and salt flats, home to gopher tortoises, snakes, lizards, and various bird species.

The park is dog-friendly, as long as pets are kept on a leash and waste is properly disposed of. Visitors can also enjoy the Estero River and Bay by renting canoes and kayaks from Koreshan State Park. The park offers a pavilion, restrooms, and benches for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the preserve.

Whether exploring the trails on land or paddling through the waterways, Estero Bay Preserve State Park offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience the beauty of Florida's diverse ecosystems.

"This place doesn't look like much when you pull up. You need to go through an opening and navigate yourself based on the map. The trails are not marked well at all so be very mindful of the direction you're going so you don't get lost. Also pay attention to your surroundings as you are out there surrounded by a vast open area filled with wildlife. Bring water for yourself and your dog . I would recommend at least 2 people in your party as there is safety in numbers. Being outside and enjoying the beauty of the Florida parks system is great just be safe. Happy hiking !!!"

"No one out here, currently on April 9th, 2021 it is dry out on the trails, no mud. Trails are good. Looks like the State is doing invasive plant control, there's a lot of dead trees and bushes."

"Visit today to ride thru the preserve, as per the website there are biking trails... Mountain biking, as it's rough terrain, so not for my touring bike... Swampy conditions after all the rain here in SW Florida, so be prepared with boots, bug spray, and of course, your camera... Beautiful looking preserve, looks like an adventure worth taking..."

"Hiked 1.6 miles 9/2. Very wet with deep mud. Was a hard hike but well worth it sense no one else is crazy enough to walk around out there this time of year. Lost of critters and tons of horse flys. Beautiful area to explore."
