About the Business

Estero Bay Preserve State Park

Estero Bay Preserve State Park is a beautiful natural oasis located in Estero, Florida. This park offers visitors the chance to explore miles of rugged trails through diverse ecosystems, including coastal marshes, maritime hammocks, mesic flatwoods, scrub, and salt flats. Along the way, hikers can spot a variety of native wildlife, from gopher tortoises and snakes to a multitude of bird species.

The park is accessible from two land entrances: the Winkler Point entrance in Fort Myers and the Estero River Scrub entrance in Estero. The Winkler Point entrance features observation decks with excellent views of wading birds and waterfowl, while the Estero River Scrub entrance offers four separate trails for visitors to explore.

Visitors are encouraged to bring sturdy footwear, insect repellent, sunscreen, and plenty of water, as some areas of the trails may be seasonally flooded. The park is dog-friendly, as long as pets are kept on a leash and waste is properly disposed of.

For those interested in exploring the waterways, canoes and kayaks are available to rent at nearby Koreshan State Park. Whether exploring by land or by water, Estero Bay Preserve State Park offers a unique and immersive experience in Florida's natural beauty.

"Nice to have mikes paths to run and walk besides in the streets. I like to do 3-4 miles while my friend does 6-7 miles so it worked out perfect. Lots of trees and wild grasses, paths were semi easy to follow unless you came across a mud pit then I had to get out my phone to see where I was!"

"I've been coming to the estero nature preserve going on 10+ years. I love the trails (although there are some things to note which I'll get to on a moment). It's the perfect place for a quick (or long nature walk) and it's generally very quite (the most I've seen is 3-4 cars). I do take dog for long walks and he loves it. There are always large tortoises slowly walking about. I've seen many birds turtles large fish in the back by the estero River. Few people I know the frequent part of said they've seen some big cats and boar but I've never encountered them. Couple things to be aware of... If it's recently rained the western part of the trails can get very wet and are almost not traversable. Also after it's rained there's generally a huge influx of mosquitoes and the worst is the horse horse flies they're very aggressive will follow you then bite you. all three of these things the rain the mosquitoes and the horse flies are generally worst in the summer and pretty much not an existent from October to May."

"Trails off broadway in Estero. Orange yellow and blue and great. At this time you can not finish the red trail, half is swamp, we tried the cut throughs that are off trail and you still can not finish red, very over grown, snakes, and even ran into a bear trap. Luckily we were able to cut back the o yellow trail and get back safe. You can tell the back side of red hasn’t been maintained in quite a while"
