About the Business

Myakka River State Park, located in Sarasota, Florida, is a breathtaking natural oasis that spans 58 square miles. Visitors can experience the beauty of Florida's first state-designated wild and scenic river, the Myakka River, which winds through unspoiled wetlands, prairies, hammocks, and pinelands.
The park offers a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts, including boating, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking on the river. Hikers and bicyclists can explore miles of trails and backroads that showcase the diverse ecosystem of the park.
While visiting the park, guests can admire the arching palm trees and live oaks that are reflected in the tea-colored waters of the river. The sounds of limpkins and osprey fill the air, while alligators and turtles can be spotted sunning themselves on logs and riverbanks.
Please note that some amenities may be temporarily unavailable, such as the birdwalk and canoe and kayak rentals. Additionally, due to seasonally dry conditions, water levels in the lake and river areas may be low, and boat tours may not be running.
For more information and updates on park conditions, visitors can contact the ranger station at 941-361-6511. Myakka River State Park offers a truly immersive outdoor experience for those looking to connect with nature in Florida's stunning wilderness.
Reviews
"You cannot get access to the park through the north gate during the week. The back gate is closed all week Monday -Friday. Google will give you driving directions to the north entrance and not tell you that you cannot get through during week days. It's unlocked and manned by a park ranger Saturday and Sunday. Even if you see an employee entering or exiting they can't let you in or out they will get fired."
"New adventures every time I explore this 25000 acre State Park. So much history, so much to learn , view and photograph."
"This is a park that has it all. Camping, picnicking, hiking, and tours. wildlife tours and canopy walks, horseback riding and biking, and of course alligator watching. There is a fee to camp or a day use fee. Once you pay that to the super friendly and helpful rangers at the entrance you drive in and it is a short distance to alligator bridge. You can't miss the bridge and there are plenty of alligators to see. They were laying in the sun a short distance from us but they looked like logs at first. Parking is alongside the road on either side of the bridge. We brought our dog and there was no problem. I can't wait to go back!"
"For the real Florida experience you mast visit the park! A Great place for people who would like to encounter the real wild life and especially alligators, also for the food lovers they can try gator bites (delicious)."
