About the Business

San Carlos Community Pool

San Carlos Community Pool, located at 8208 Sanibel Boulevard in Fort Myers, Florida, is a popular aquatic facility offering a variety of programs and services to the public. The pool, which holds 173,218 gallons of water and features eight lanes, is heated and open year-round. Lap lanes are available for swimmers looking to get in a good workout, while aerobic classes are offered four days a week. Water walking sessions are also held on specific days for those interested in low-impact exercise.

The pool, which opened in August of 1989, is home to the Gulf Coast Swim Team and provides swim lessons for all ages throughout the year. ADA accommodations are available to ensure accessibility for all visitors. In addition to the main pool, there is a small pool slide for added fun on days when there are no classes being taught. Night swimming is made possible by deck lights installed in 1991, and a shade structure was added in 1998 to provide relief from the sun.

The facility's lifeguard staff is certified through the StarFish Aquatic Institute StarGuard Program, while the Learn to Swim Instructors hold certifications from the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Program. The pool underwent a resurfacing project in 2005 and has since added multiple shaded areas, including large size Funbrellas and a double flume water slide for added enjoyment.

Operating hours vary throughout the week, with specific programs such as Balance and Flexibility classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Water Walking sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays. For more information or inquiries, individuals can contact Arthur Harrington at (239) 267-6002 or via email at AHarrington@leegov.com.

"The pool is nice, and clean, and fun to play in. Many options to choose for ice creams in this area, and the bathroom or shower area is nice too. Lifeguards are nice too! The only complaint is they often get distracted by talking with the elderly and don’t focus on the kids who are far from their parents in the water."

"Wonderful, relaxing, uncrowded, friendly, inexpensive. Lots of exercise groups. Or swim laps, if you like."

"The pool is large and clean. The lifeguards are helpful. They have a few life vests to loan non-swimmers, and they loaned me a paddle board and diving rings for fun. There are no lockers, but they do have showers poolside and in the dressing rooms. There isn't a kiddie pool, but they have very wide stairs that allow young children to stand in the water. I took my 3 year-old grandson and 6 year-old granddaughter, and they both had fun. There is a waterslide, but you must be able to swim without aids, in the deep water, in order to use it. There are lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas on the pool deck. We bought a 6 month pool pass, which made the reasonable price even more affordable. I enjoy their water aerobics class too. For a community pool, it's very good."

"Nice salt water community pool! With two small slides and Lap lanes. Lifeguards, a couple shaded patio areas to escape the sun, and a few picnic tables where you can enjoy your own packed lunch. Currently a $3 entrance fee, no recreational floaty devices allowed. Clean facility."
