"4.5 stars due to very small parking lot of 7 spaces, plus 1 handicapped. Potty house not very clean. Also, no benches or any seating available. Otherwise, a hidden gem of a park. Very well maintained sandy trails, beautiful old central Florida fauna, pine trees, Spanish Oaks, many types of Palms. A very peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Loch Leven area, which is very close. The lake is small but scenic. Only 1 duck swimming. In fact, saw very little wildlife, which was surprising. Highly recommend, and we plan to visit again."
"Older couple found this to be a manageable hike with a Lake view. Each path labeled with letters A-E. B is the path to the lake and aluminum floating dock. Didn't see a canoe or kayak locker area. Not sure where you would load one in. They are currently building a new parking area. I have included photos."
"Lake May Reserve is a picture perfect conservation area. Trails are well marked and there’s a lot to see. If you’re looking for a short and scenic hike (~2miles) in Lake County, this is a must. There’s even a slight elevation change!"
"I loved this nature reserve. Lots of incredible flora, wild muscadine abounds! We saw many different types of butterflies, spiders, and birds. I saw the largest jumping spider I've ever seen, with wonderful orange coloring (theyr harmlessand actually very friendly, do not let this deter you from visiting as their size is quite small). Be careful with the dock if you have littles. If you don't watch them, they can fall or walk off the edge. The next time I'm in the area I will be back!"
"Beautiful trails that are all well maintained. A bonus is the beautiful lake. A new dock for launching a kayak, canoe or do a little fishing. Woodpeckers and ducks are just a few of the birds I've photographed. New construction is going on nearby for a larger parking lot and a few surprises."
