About the Business

Blue Jacket Park

Blue Jacket Park, located at 2501 General Rees Avenue in Orlando, Florida, is a historic site that served as the Orlando Naval Training Center for over 30 years. This 75-acre public park is a popular tourist attraction and offers a special place for reflection and physical renewal. The park is known for its baseball, soccer, and softball facilities, as well as hosting various events.

One of the highlights of Blue Jacket Park is the Navy History Wall, which commemorates the history of the Orlando Naval Training Center and the thousands of service personnel who trained there. The Memorial Wall features 10 panels that tell the story of the Navy's history in Orlando through pictures and words, including the recruit experience and the Navy's current presence in the city.

Visitors can also see statues, a pier monument, and a compass rose at the south end of the park, in front of the baseball fields. Blue Jacket Park is a must-visit destination for history buffs, sports enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors in a serene and picturesque setting. The park is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on observed holidays.

"Nice, quiet place to do my running during the morning/night. Fun events and things to attend during Saturdays/Sundays. But I am giving 2 stars because the people who past you don’t even say “Good morning,” neither “Bad morning.” And there are the racist white people who are rude, and are not friendly."

"Very well kept park. Not a lot of shade on the walking trail section. The baseball fields have shaded seating."

"Visiting Blue Jacket Park was a very nostalgic experience. My husband Tom joined the Navy in 1988 and attended boot camp in this exact same spot. and one of the pictures he is standing at the exact same spot or he marched in his boot camp Company, C013. Our first child was born in the VA hospital on the other side of Baldwin like. We spent many lunches at a picnic table thinking about our future. In 1999 the U.S. Navy turned over all of the property that was a former navy base to the city of Orlando. It is amazing to see how they turned this former Navy base into a beautiful community park and neighborhood."

"Awesome Park! Very Clean and Beautiful! Lots of shade and trees. Nice bridge And fountain for photos. Very wide open grass area to walk dogs or play field sports. Baseball fields and snack bar for little league. Wide paths for running scooting or jogging. Saw a few people doing yoga and exercising. Water fountains and picnic tables available. Overall beautiful park and very clean. Pick up your trash and be nice to animals."
