Reviews
"The only good thing I can say about this resort is it has nice views and friendly employees. The walls are thin and you hear everything going on outside your room and down the street, it’s over priced and the water pressure was horrible. The sloppy Joe restaurant attached to the hotel was one of the worst places I’ve ever eaten. The sloppy Joe I got was cold, like refrigerator cold, cold fries and over priced cocktails. Would never recommend this place for any reason."
"This was our fifth year staying at Bilmar with a group of friends. As always, the room was clean and very comfortable. We stayed in the tower and the Gulf view from each of the rooms was spectacular and the balcony a nice place to just sit and enjoy coffee in the morning. Housekeeping was always on-time and efficient. Sloppy Joe's Restaurant always provided great meals no matter the time of day and always at a very reasonable price. I do want to point out the best feature of this hotel (besides the beach): The staff. From top to bottom the staff at Bilmar is top notch. From booking to the reservation desk to restaurant staff and other guest services members, they are all available and ready to help. I've stayed at hotels where the staff seems impersonal and distant, but not so at Bilmar. Treasure Island has a terrific number of bars, restaurants and shops of all price ranges so you're never wanting for anything. 100% endorsement from my wife and me."
"I haven't stayed here, but we occasionally visit the bar/restaurant since it's open to the public. The food is good and comes out pretty quick, and they have cheap drink specials if you hit during happy hour/sunset. Perfect location to walk along the beach, watch the sunset, and people watch."
"Friendly service.Clean, large room with full size coffee maker, a sink, microwave and mini figure. Unfortunately there was construction going on (which we did not know about ) but when we told them we did not want to have a room outside the construction, they upgraded us to a Gulfside patio room. We didn't realize it was a handicapped room until my husband took a shower and had to stoop in the shower to use it. We enjoyed the hot tub, game room, small gym, free towels and delicious chocolate chip cookies everyday at 3:00 at front desk. The bed was too soft for our liking. The view was amazing and we went during the quiet season so it wasn't too loud at all or crowded."
"The first thing I want to say about the Bilmar Beach Resort is that it could 100% get a 5-star rating from me with a few changes, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Staff was extremely pleasant and efficient. Any time I stopped at the desk to ask them something they were more than helpful and seemed to really enjoy being there. We didn't really interact with anyone other than the desk staff. Housekeeping did stop by our room once while we were there and made the beds, changed the trash cans and left us fresh towels but we were out at the time and did not speak with them. The location is out of this world! I wish I could have afforded a balcony room but even without one the view was gorgeous. The Sanding Ovation event was right outside. We walked the beach and the paved trail multiple times during our stay. There are two on-site restaurant options. We ate at Sloppy Joe's for breakfast and it was great, and if you needed some indoor recreation then Waves was a good spot too. We didn't eat there, but we did stop in to see what they had. There are plenty of other restaurants and stores along the street too if you need more variety, and you'll get your steps in too if you take advantage of this very walkable area. Our room was very nice! I liked the art work, everything was clean, it was spacious enough for us (party of 2), the air worked well, loved the fact that there was a ceiling fan, plenty of lighting and power outlets. We made use of the refrigerator and microwave, plus there was a toaster and coffee pot too. The beds were mostly comfortable, I prefer a slightly softer mattress but I still slept alright. The pillows were good and 4 on each bed was perfect. My only complaint about the room is that there was no water pressure, enough came out for you to get yourself clean but you had to stand right under the shower head. Plenty of very hot water though. Easy access to the elevators, stairs, parking lot and lobby from the Shell building. I really liked all of the games and seating throughout the resort, the pool areas were very clean and inviting. The "rooftop" sundeck was a really nice spot to hang out, but the term "rooftop" is a bit misleading. It is indeed on a roof, but it's the roof of the lobby. I think 2nd floor terrace sundeck might be a better name for it. Overall our stay was pleasant but there was one thing that did hamper it a bit. There was construction going on that was not disclosed and I feel like for the prices they're charging they really should have discounted the rooms in this building and made everyone staying in it aware from the time of booking that there would be extremely loud noise right outside their door from roughly 9-5, even on Saturday. One of our neighbors took extreme measures and screamed at the construction crew to stop, I would never, but I get the frustration, it was giving me a headache. It would have been nice to know that this was going to be taking place. It wasn't noted on our reservation, anywhere on the website, nor was it mentioned when we checked in. If you are staying in the near future you may want to call and ask if this construction is still taking place. If you're out of your room all day it might not bother you at all, but I actually like an afternoon nap most days, so it was a bit rough at times. Also be aware that there is a $35 per night resort fee, but it does include beach chairs, towels, bottled water (my favorite feature) and some other rentals like bikes and I believe kayaks. We only took advantage of the water, which you only had to go to the front desk for and you could get it either cold or room temp. There was usually someone in the little hut where you get the towels and chairs so I feel like it was probably easy to obtain those as well. There's no separate parking fee here and they don't appear to place a hold on your card when you check in either, which I really appreciate."
