"Overall, we had a great time! We were given a room and when we opened the door, we found it was never cleaned. My wife texted the front desk on her phone and they drove out immediately with room keys to the next door room for us. After some small talk with the staff, the guy found out it was my grandson's birthday and came back with a bunch of Lego gifts and arranged for us to receive a free smores kit at the fire by the pool for that night. I felt that the convenience of texting the front desk and their immediate response was more than enough to compensate for the mix-up, but Legoland went above and beyond to make sure we were extra happy! We ended up having a great stay and enjoyed the heated pool and smores by the fire. The breakfast was 10x better than a continental breakfast at a hotel and everyone on the property was absolutely friendly! Thank you Legoland for making my grandson's birthday special! We will be returning more often!"

"They get an overall 4. When we first arrived we were greatly kindly, got to our room which was a little walk to find our room floors were disgusting. The bed zip everything else was great but the floor turned my kids feet black! We reached out, they said it would get a complete clean in the AM, I requested additional towels to wipe our feet before getting in bed they were delivered swiftly. Deloris at the shop was so kind & made my sons night! The s’mores by the fire are cute, playgrounds & grounds clean. Breakfast - service was great, food just okay. Bus driver was awesome"

"We had a really nice stay. This hotel is very kid friendly! There is a small playground in each section of rooms, Legos to play with in each room as well as in the restaurant. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good! It's served family style and they have a variety of breakfast staples. The service was great and everyone we interacted with was friendly. The rooms are on the smaller side but it worked well for our family of 4."

"Spent 2 days here while going to Legoland. The room was perfect for us with 2 children. The kids' room also had a trundle bed for 3rd child. The pool was open at 9am-9pm, so we were able to use it after coming back from the park. Ladies at check-in booth were amazing with checking us in and verifying that the birthday package was set up in the room before we arrived."

"Beach retreat rooms are the same size a smaller hotel room. Veteran’s day weekend we paid $700 for two nights. For that price, we would’ve been just as happy with an unaffiliated hotel. Here’s why: It’s less expensive. We don’t have to wait 30 minutes to an hour to eat the complementary breakfast. Even with paying for parking at Legoland, it still would’ve been cheaper to stay off site. We still had to drive to Legoland. Yes, they offer a shuttle from Beach Retreat to the park, but half the time there was a closed sign at the shuttle stop, so we ended up driving ourselves. Speaking of closed, the one night we were able to use the pool, they had it completely closed. Our son was heartbroken that the pool was closed. We showed up with towels ready to swim and partake in the nightly s’mores only to be turned away. Why? Because someone earlier in the day got hurt. Like, I’m sorry for them. But we paid $700 to stay here and can’t use the pool, shuttle is erratic and unreliable. Food is crazy expensive for what it was. Ruby Tuesday is just across the street and you can eat cheaper and better there than Sandy’s Castle. Something by else we weren’t fond of was the well water. Seems like the entire resort relies on well water, which has a distinct sulphur taste and smell. Even the water carafe at our table at Sandy’s Castle was stinky and tasted bad. Winter Haven had a lot of places to eat and plenty of grocery stores, shoppes, etc. Beach Retreat just wasn’t worth it to us. We won’t be back. Closing the one amenity that adds value to the expensive stay really sealed the coffin for us."
