Lakeside Inn

"Delightful weekend retreat!! Enjoyed dinner in tavern first evening and Jazz Dinner the next…both meals were delish! Even though it rained both days we stayed busy shopping for antiques. Looking forward to our next visit!!"

"My husband & I stayed at the Lakeside Inn for a couple days in late Jan 2024. The hotel is in a great location. Very walkable to downtown. Our room had a heavy mold and mildew odor. Windows were painted shut so there was no fresh air that was desperately needed. The bed was way too soft, no support. The bed linens and towels were so thin you could see thru them. The toilet was very small and old; sink was too low and the tub didn’t have a drain cover. The shower water fluctuated from hot to cold on its own. The locks to the room with “real key” was somewhat tricky to operate because it took two hands to unlock the door. The carpet was filthy and added to the odor. There is no concierge service or anyone available to help carry a suitcase. Also there is no elevator so you have to carry your bags yourself up the 14 stairs. Neither the bar nor the kitchen were well stocked and it was a pretty slow week. The Inn could be fabulous but when there is no competition in town, this is what happens. If you’re thinking of staying at the Inn, you’ve been warned."

"The Lakeside Inn is definitely quaint and can claim a stellar location. Just be prepared that the accommodations are very dated and tired looking. Toilets don’t flush well, temperature control in rooms can be a challenge, hallways can be noisy and there are no elevators in multi story buildings which might make you question why you are paying these prices for a less than stellar room. That being said, staff work hard to make sure you are comfortable and will work hard to meet your needs. We had breakfast during our 4 day stay and it was very good with an excellent wait staff. Unfortunately there was a wedding party staying while we were there and they were very boisterous and disruptive. You might want to ask about any events scheduled during your stay to avoid uncomfortable interruptions to an otherwise relaxing get away."

"This is the second time we’ve stayed at the lakeside inn in the last 6 months. The first time there was termite droppings on the bed. This is our second time here trying to give it another shot so we can suggest our wedding guest to stay here for our upcoming wedding, assuming the problem had been taken care of. In the halls leading to our room there was rat droppings in the window. There is also termite droppings in the windows and closet of our room. This was told to the staff and it seems like a common occurrence they’re having. They offered for someone to come and clean it up? To be clear, the droppings were from the 1 night we stayed as they weren’t there when we initially checked in. It’s just such a shame the premises are so nice but the rooms & halls are full of bugs, spider webs, etc. There could be a lot of potential for this hotel. You’re better off staying at one of the many beautiful bed and breakfast in town and enjoy the lakeside inn from the outside. The lobby & restaurants look nice."

"We spent two nights at Lakeside Inn in the lake view room of the Terrace building. First, the room itself was very spacious with wrap around windows providing a spectacular view of the lake. There was a small table with two chairs and we were able to sip a glass of wine while watching an incredible sunset right from the room. The room was at the end of the building and was nice and quiet. And the bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend this room!!! The only downside was being careful when showering… if your neighbor flushes the toilet, you lose cold water in your shower. It gets very hot. But it’s a historic building and is worth being a little careful to stay here. The location is perfect.. within walking distance to all the shops, parks, and restaurants. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The main building was nicely decorated for Christmas, and the restaurant was very good. It was a little chilly for us to eat outside on the veranda, but that option is available and would be great with a view of the lake, weather permitting. Overall, a wonderful place to go."
