Hotel Effie Sandestin

"My wife and I went to the Hotel Effie Sandestin for a few nights and had a wonderful experience. The customer service was superb, the food at Ovide (Breakfast and dinner) was outstanding. The chef even customized a vegetarian-friendly meal for my wife both nights. The Hotel offers access to several pools, to include a rooftop pool which had stellar views. Moreover, if you are there during the weekend, there is a complimentary yoga class available which my wife and I did. Of both hotels we went to in the area, (Hotel Effie and Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort), Hotel Effie exceeded my expectations. I look forward to visiting again in the future."

"My lover and I stayed here for Valentine's Day and I am more than impressed with the customer service this hotel staff has shown. They have accommodated every one of my needs and made sure that I was satisfied throughout my stay. "I suppose I should've checked the reviews beforehand, as my sentiments align. Our initial impression of the hotel was one of stinginess. While complimentary valet and wine were advertised with our room, we had to request them multiple times, almost as if they were reluctant to provide them. Additionally, the deal stated 'per stay,' yet they refused it the second time, despite what was advertised on Expedia. Furthermore, the front desk attendant displayed considerable rudeness and seemed to harbor resentment. When we inquired about a larger room, the website indicated a $20 price difference, yet she insisted on an $80 upgrade, despite being aware of the inconsistencies. This experience left me with the impression that the hotel is struggling financially. I've stayed at better and more accommodating hotels where deals and complimentary amenities are generously provided. Even the amenities we did pay for were met with reluctance. I highly doubt we'll return anytime soon."

"Don't stay here. It's overrated. It wants to be upscale, but it is far from that. The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful, but everything else is lacking. The service is below par. The way they do things is so inconvenient. They take your room key so you can check out a beach towel and you have to wait in a loooong to give your wet towel back to the front desk clerk to get your room key back. This process took 30 minutes! They don't have enough staff to be doing towels and checking in guests. It's an absolute joke. Then the ice machine doesn't work. Such a large hotel with no ice machines is ridiculous. This place wants to "act" like it's fancy and upscale but the service and the way they run things is far from that. La Quinta Inn runs things more smoothly than this place. The price doesn't match what you get. Absolutely disappointed in the experience we had. Also the valet is all kids with snobby attitudes. The restaurants have great food, but the wait was such a joke. The hostess doesn't write names down she just guesses who is next up for their table. Watching the hostess stand at the hotel was comical how they run things. Everyone was complaining. Stay someone else. Don't stay here."

"Beautiful hotel, terrible front desk staff. This is a BEAUTIFUL hotel! The lobby and rooms are wonderful. The non-valet parking is fairly sparse and a bit of a walk, but we always found a spot. We had both in room dining and ate in the restaurant and weren’t very impressed by either. We did eat at the Henderson one evening and the food and service there were excellent! The rooftop pool and bar at Hotel Effie are very nice and add to the premium feel of the property. The spa services were top notch. The front desk staff are very rude, act as though they are the guests at this premium hotel, rather than servicing people’s needs and were generally aggravating and non helpful. There were unauthorized bar charges on my bill and when I asked the front desk to research, the tall female staffer with a foreign accent who “assisted” me made me feel as though I were lying until she finally apologized and credited the charges back. I was so insulted that I asked to speak to a manager and she stated the managers weren’t available. We loved our stay there, but won’t be back due to the staff’s attitude and terrible customer service."
