Reviews
"First time boarding my pointer. This place is EXACTLY what my boy needed. Beyond the space he needs to run and actual trainers keeping an eye on your dog."
"This is one of my top favorite businesses. They genuinely care and are extremely dedicated. Our little pup has crazy amounts of energy and here he can get it all out and socialize with all types of dogs! Osama and Carlos deserve a Nobel peace prize for their patience and the love they show our Ollie. We’ll be loyal customers for years to come. Don’t look further, they are the best! (This pic is immediately following a 1 week stay - he never wants to leave. His smile says it all!)"
"Update 5/18/23: It’s been one year since we lost our baby. Not a day goes by that we don’t miss him. There will forever be a hole in our hearts. RIP Jax, Mom and Dad love you forever. On 5/18, my nearly 3 yr old dog, Jax, died while in the care of Osama & Carlos at OneStopK9. We had an evaluation & 2 training sessions. During the 1st visit & future visits, the emergency protocols were clear. In the event of an emergency, Osama would call. If he was not able to reach the parent within 15min, he would take the dog to his vet. He said he was fully insured & money was never an issue. On 5/17, we dropped off our dogs, Jax & Koda, for their 2 week board & train at 8:15 AM. We left plenty of food & two of our pillowcases that Osama could provide to the dogs to comfort them (Osama’s suggestion). Osama said he would call that night & provide an update. Osama did not call that night. On 5/18, 10:15 AM, Osama sent me a text that said the dogs were well. He did state that Jax was nervous but starting to warm up to him. Osama said he would reach out that night with an update. At 5:10 PM, Osama called but I couldn’t pick up. I sent him a text & said I would call back. I called back twice within 5 min of the missed call. Osama did not pick up & I became nervous. About 1 hour later, I received a call from Osama. Carlos Benitez was on the line. Carlos informed me that there was an emergency & he asked for my address to discuss it in person. I was very alarmed & demanded more info. Carlos then told me that Jax was dead. Carlos said he & Osama left the property to buy supplies. The dogs were left alone, in crates, for 20-30 min. (Osama later said they don’t have a firm timeline & it was likely closer to 1 hour they were left alone.) When they returned, they let the dogs out in groups, when it was Jax’s turn, they then noticed he was laying down, unresponsive in his crate. Osama said he did CPR on Jax for approx. 3 min while Carlos called 911 & their vet. The vet told them to bring Jax in. Jax was declared dead on arrival. The vet said Jax was dead for at least 30 min before he arrived. This all occurred before I received a phone call or spoke to Osama. Osama claims the phone call I missed at 5:10 PM was when they were on the way to the vet but I replied within minutes. I did provide my address to Osama & he arrived at my home around 7 PM with Koda & the rest of the supplies I had left. Osama later confirmed that he never gave the dogs the pillowcases we left to make their stay more comfortable because he wanted to see if they really needed it. I still cannot accept that Jax was dead, in a freezer before I received the news. Osama did say he wanted to try to help & offered to facilitate a necropsy through UF. We met at his vet so I could see my son, for the last time. The vet did not tell us any cause of death, he appeared to be healthy, as our vet had confirmed just a few months prior during his annual visit. My wife & I have asked ourselves over & over: How could this happen? How does a nearly 3 yr old dog die after less than 36 hours in Osama’s care? Osama’s vet, Kendall Point Animal Hospital, had no experience with necropsies. I took Jax’s body to SouthEast Veterinary Referral Center, who had the facility & experience to do the necropsy through UF. Osama paid for his cremation & necropsy. He did return the funds paid toward the board & train but he did not return the evaluation or training session fees. Edit: All funds were returned after the initial posting of this review. Our only hope is that the necropsy will provide the answers Osama has not. Meanwhile, Osama & Carlos continue caring for other dogs. I hope he has informed his clients that a dog died on his property of an unknown cause. Osama has been responsive however his inability to explain how this happened has only contributed to our grief. Carlos has not responded since that night. I am a desperate grieving parent & as of this writing, both Carlos & Osama have blocked my wife & I from their social media pages. RIP Jax. Your mom, dad, and Koda love you forever."
"These guys are the best, I did the board and train with them for my boy and have no regrets. I live in an apartment building and I constantly get compliments on how well behaved he is in the elevator. He used to pull on the leash and was just generally unpleasant to walk with but now I can feel my bond getting closer with him every day as we continue to expose him to new situations. A special shout-out to Carlos who personally worked with tito and us a lot. He is still super available for any questions and concerns I have and I swear he and I are talking on the phone for almost an hour a week still. He’s always there to help me out. He has a bully himself so he understands how important it is for them to be on their best behavior and to be a good spokesperson for a breed that is often feared. They also do boarding which I have begun using whenever I travel. They come and pick him up too, all for a low price. It’s really nice to know that he is always in good hands and that they will continue to reinforce the things I am working on with my boy while I am gone. Overall, these guys are so devoted to what they do and they show that they genuinely care for my dog and his continued improvement"
