"Growing up, I attended Belleview High School and played soccer for their program. For four years, it was always my greatest pleasure to play away at Booster Stadium. It was the match I most looked forward to, and enjoyed the most regardless of the score. Stepping onto the stadium felt like stepping onto Old Trafford (the home of professional soccer team Manchester United). The grass was always well maintained. The bleachers echoed the sounds of the game. The stadium provides a locker room for teams to debrief at half-time. It was the closest thing a 15 year old boy could get to a professional experience in Marion County. Fast forwarding 10 years, I am coaching soccer in Marion County and returned to coach against the Knights at Booster Stadium. The announcer played a soundtrack of fans cheering during the game, and the nostalgia was almost strong enough to make me drop my clipboard and take the field with my players. It was wonderful seeing the same wide eyes on athletes all these years later. I hope that as soccer grows in Marion County this stadium will be used to house more events in order to give more athletes the same experience."
