"Many years ago I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. In Jan, 2020, I had gamma knife surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia and did not get much relief. In July 2022 the symptoms returned full blown, maybe worse than ever before. The neurologist told me I have SUNCT a type of headache that has "no known cause and no known cure". He offered me an anticonvulsant "that may or may not help". I have tried anticonvulsants in the past and the side effects were much worse than the benefits so I decided to do more research. There is not much information about SUNCT. I started researching all kinds of alternative therapies. Acupuncture has been known for some time to help with Trigeminal Neuralgias so I focused on offices in the Venice, Sarasota, and Port Charlotte area. I was impressed with the credentials of Dr. Mariryan Heschmeyer D.O.M., A.P. On the first phone conversation I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly. On my first visit Dr. Heschmeyer assured me she has treated SUNCT successfully and set up a plan of care. I had significant relief that day and then on the second day she gave me multiple injections in my face of the drug Sarapin. I had treatments once a week and on the fourth visit I was pain free. Sarapin is approved by the FDA. I am so thankful for Dr. Heschmeyer"s skill and knowledge of this disease SUNCT. I will continue to see her once a month as a maintenance therapy but I remain pain free. I recommend that everyone with the SUNCT diagnosis should see Dr. Heschmeyer. Don't be afraid of the Sarapin injections in your face, its like a kitten walking on your face compared to the trigeminal pain. The office staff is very helpful and very compassionate, its easy to access and the atmosphere is very comforting. The experience is stress free and the results are miraculous."

"I went to Art of Acupuncture as a recommendation because I was suffering from digestive issues and have been treated for depression for many years with the regular medications without a lot of success. I knew I was going to be a challenge and Mariryan was certainly up to it. After about four visits my depression was better than it had been in many years!! As for the digestive issues she advised me as what to eat to ease my pain and bloating and it worked too!! I am highly recommending to anyone with any type of illness to go see Art of Acupuncture. She has helped me through many other issues as well, such as the loss of my Mother and Father and headaches. Thank you so much Mariryan!"

"Mariryan is an incredibly talented doctor of oriental medicine. At my first appointment and at every appointment since, she asks how I am doing and TRULY listens to what I tell her. She tailors her treatment based on what I tell her, and teaches me about what my symptoms mean in the oriental medicine discipline. She recommends diet changes, possible supplements that might help me, as well as performing acupuncture and other related treatments. She has also talked with my acupuncturist from up north, guiding him to what seems to be working for me in her treatment. I can't imagine a kinder, more empathetic, or more talented doctor of oriental medicine. 5 stars on this review aren't nearly enough for this very special practitioner."

"I experienced severe facial pain in the left side of my face for 6 months. I could not chew, brush my teeth or eat solid foods. During those months I had an MRI and C-Scan with conflicting diagnosis. .neurological or trigeminal neuralgia. I was under the care of 2 neurologists who placed me on meds with no results, and 2 dental surgeons who ordered me 2 different retainers with no results. Surgery was the next step recommended by all the doctors. Being no doctor was able to confirm a diagnosis I decided to step away, live with the pain and wait for another door to open. A friend of mine aware of my situation recommended I see Mariryan Heschmeyer, an acupuncturist. Never having experienced acupuncture I was hesitant, but my friend is her patient and has had positive results. So, I began seeing Mariryan and after 3 treatments my facial pain completely disappeared and never returned. What all those doctors could not treat, Mariryan did! My husband, who has had chronic back pain for years, is also a patient of Mariryan and very pleased with his results. We are both indebted to Mariryan for her professionalism, knowledge, and care for leading us to a pain free life."
