"I have seen Kimberly Barnhill, Dr Adkisson's nurse practitioner, twice in the last 4 months at the outpatient clinic at DM McMillan Hospital in Brewton. I went to her after an initial visit with a gastro in Mobile, AL that was absolutely horrible. The NP there was rude and kept trying to leave the room as I was asking questions. I also wanted a second opinion bc she was saying my liver issue was probably stable and my symptoms were no big deal. I'm glad I sought a second opinion! Ms. Barnhill took the time to listen to my concerns, answer all of my questions and explain the plan going forward with my treatment. So far, I've never felt that the visit was rushed or that she was in a hurry to get out of the room. She sits down when she comes in to speak with you instead of standing over you, making the visit feel alot more personable. A lot of people expect doctors and NPs to be mind readers and just give you lots of info at one time. My advice to you would be to be prepared for your visit. Take a list of the symptoms you're having, any labs or tests you've already had done, and any questions you have with you. In my experience, visits just go better when you're actively participating in the visit. You may not have answers on the very first visit, but she will get you headed in the right direction. Overall, I would definitely recommend Ms. Barnhill for your gastro needs."
