Martinez Middle School

"This school has a few issues, like very bad school lunches, water fountains that seem to alternate which is coldest, and constantly changing rules (the rules regarding lunch have been different every year) and other stuff like that. I also disliked their solution for electives when I was in sixth grade, which was to prevent some students from choosing certain electives because there was too many kids there, and then there were more electives when I got to seventh grade, which I couldn't choose, but the new sixth graders could, which was crap. But most of the teachers here are pretty good , so I'll give it three stars."

"I am in 8'th grade and have been going here since 6'th. I would say that overall this school is good, but there are some problems as well. On bullying, I think the school does a pretty good job! I got bullied last year and the problem was resolved immediately. However,, there are some kids (I don't want to name any names) who do not get punished enough. There are kids who disrupt the class, shout slurs in the hallway or locker rooms, or tease/annoy people who should be dealt with more seriously. Also, the school lunch is terrible, but that may be a problem in Hillsborough County in general with a low budget. The teachers, I generally think are good, most are understanding and understand we are kids and will do stupid things, but I feel others can be too strict and often try to purposely look for kids to get them in trouble. For example, one of my teachers always catches people for gum, or even just whispering! I think PE is fine the way it is, but I do think the coaches should understand better that the majority of the school isn't athletic, like the other person said. The staff is very nice to me, as many times I am late to school because I am up all night doing homework and have to sleep, but the staff is okay with it. Overall, this school is good, I wouldn't say it's the best school ever, but it is definitely not the worst :)"

"I loved the school! So much inviting and nice people, always willing to lend you a hand whether in class or with homework! I made so much friends here, and even gained confidence throughout my middle school experience. It's a great school filled with opportunities that are offered to the students. My recommendation for Martinez Middle School is high if you're searching for new experiences, wanting to make great friends, and is looking for a fun time while learning. I'll never forget my middle school experience :)"
