McKitrick Elementary School

"Very disappointed with this school. Was told it was a A+ school but my after today I'm considering a different school. My 6yr son, who has gone to this school for 2yrs was bullied at school by a student from a different classroom. My son was physically choked and pushed up against a fence. My son was with 3 other students who confirmed this kid was bullying them. I presented it to the principal and guidance counselor.... had a lengthy meeting with them even. And they literally told me theres nothing they can do, told me that my son should have told the teacher then rather than telling me when i picked him up. I argued and argued with the principal and still nothing. They told my son to avoid this kid and never fight back. I'm appauled with the way they handled this situation. They never even empathized or showed any concern. Except boys will be boys. Definitely not a good school."

"10/5/2015: Just found out that Ana Cooper called me wrong. Let me be more specific. Gorrie taught interest rate, sales tax and ... in 4th grade gifted math. McKitrick taught long division and ... in 5th grade gifted math which my daughter already learned that in 3rd grade. My daughter did represent McKitrick in Math Bowl competition though. Regarding my issue with school top administrator, she lied to me about the reason why my daughter was forced to give up her assigned seat on the school bus and the PE coach tried to bully/intimidate my daughter in front of two classes of students. I wrote this review based on my experience. I will let other to make their own judgement. 2014: My daughter transferred from Gorrie (4th) to McKitrick (5th). It was a day and night difference. The 4th grade gifted math in Gorrie was way more advance than the 5th grade in McKitrick. I had bad experience with a PE coach and the top administrator also. I blamed myself for transferring my daughter out of Gorrie."

The teachers are great, the administration is top notch and the education is second to none. I say this as a doctor, as a parent and as a member of the SAC now for two years."
