Pelican Larry's Raw Bar and Grill

"This is about the 5th time here in 2 months. Week after week the service is deplorable. The food is good, when it arrives 2 hours later. Don't come unless you want to spend the evening. The excuse, shift changes at 5 to 5:30 PM. Seriously, who changes shift in the middle of dinner service hours. I feel bad for the staff that shows up. Pelican Larry, you need to step up Your game. UPDATE: THE MANAGEMENT did come and apologize and comped two of our meals. In the end, the one meal that was wrong and was supposed to be grilled grouper came out as chicken, and was remade and sent home in a carry out box, and is now blacked grouper. Maybe we will give management one more try. Our oysters were great, beer was cold, our other 3 meals were fine. Slightly cold, but edible."

"2 weeks ago we had lunch at the Pelican on Davis. We’ve gone there for years. The most recent visit was notable. The food was excellent. We’re OK with bar food but we both mentioned how good the food was. New cook, new standards, don’t know but this was beyond bar food. Always a nice place to visit."

"Great place to watch sports with good deals but would not order seafood again there despite them promoting themselves as a seafood sports restaurant and bar. The mussels were overcooked as all the shells were cracking and so brittle. They did not taste fresh at all. If went back would order non seafood pub grub. Was a friendly place with great numbers of TVs for sports fans."

"Pelican Larry’s was amazing! We started off with a round of drinks (the margs very superb) and then got the conch fritters and fresh oysters. Both were some of the best I’ve ever had. We had the beach bread and the shrimp quesadilla. The quesadilla had house made mango pineapple salsa that was to die for! Highly recommend this place! And Star took excellent care of us."

"This is essentially a big bar. It has several umbrella tables completely outside and a large open air area under the roof to eat. The server and bartender that checked on us a couple times were very attentive and friendly. Can't beat the service from my experience. The inlaws loved the peal and eat shrimp here and that's why we came and they were quite tasty as well as the grilled shrimp. The grilled grouper was very thick and good but was probably 1 minute undercooked. The grouper Ruben that wasn't on the newer menu that they did make anyway was pretty good. The conch fritters were good but just a little too moist in the center. Would definitely come here again."
