Lima Restaurant

"(Let me preface this review by saying that this was our experience on this night. We feel that excellence should be celebrated and shared. A bad experience should be shared as well; with management at the venue. A public forum should never be the first point of venting.) I rarely initiate a conversation about a restaurant experience due to its’ personal nature, but need to step out to talk about LIMA, a Peruvian experience at The Village Falls, 5047 Tamiami Trail E, Naples, FL 34113. We walked into the bar area where a smoking glass sat awaiting delivery, so I asked the bartender, “What is that?” “A Holy Smoke she replied, an updated version of an old fashioned.” And so it began. When we reached our table, Lima’s version of chips and salsa arrived as well. This was a small bowl of puffed Peruvian corn with a serving of flavored mayonnaise. Light and tasty. I studied the drink menu and remained intrigued by the smoky option. I do not request an old fashioned ever, but I was looking for something different, so I ordered one and it was outstanding. The smoke added a rustic note to the drink and it lasted long after I was finished. Mrs. diner had a La Pelirroja - Red wine, pisco 100, triple sec, pineapple juice, passion fruit, orange, a Peruvian version of Sangria and it was equally tasty. Once we placed our app order, a server brought a small cup of “on the house" soup that was hot, creamy, and the perfect amount to begin the food excursion. Our frst course was a shared dish of Ceviche Lima - Grouper with a blend of aromatic peppers, glazed yam, choclo, cancha, leche de tigre, and a medium level of spice added. The generous amount of fish in the dish was a pleasant surprise as was the spice. Just enough to make it interesting. We did not finish the ceviche. Doggie bag please. We made a tactical decision to share an entree of Lomo Saltado - Juicy beef tenderloin sautéed in the wok with Roma tomatoes and red onions, served with au jus over jasmine rice and hand-cut fried potatoes. Another wonderful choice. The rice was perfect and the sauce was different. A good different. Another take-home item. We did splurge on a piece of 5-layer chocolate cake to take home and barely touched it. We were full. The service at LIMA was impeccable from start to finish. The restaurant has four seating areas; a bar, two large rooms inside, and a wandering covered deck off the bar. We sat outside and it was lovely. This is a casual/elegant restaurant with white table cloths that should be sold out every night. Highly recommended and we will go back to try something different."

"Huge port of ceviche of grouper in one dish, we also added seafood to it including calamari and shrimp. The corn is the sweetest one I ever had from a Peruvian place. Both main dishes are excellent."

"I enjoyed a few appetizers and the main course. I was satisfied overall but the dessert made the meal end on a bad note. The panna cotta tasted like it was made a week before, topped with a very sweet overpowering syrup…it tasted very industrial. I let the waiter know, the dessert should have been taken off the bill but I got charged for it."
