Mellow Mushroom Sanford

"Chain restaurants have a quick way of becoming boring and predictable. Mellow Mushroom stands out in the crowd because each of its units is unique in appearance. While the 70s is certainly the vibe, they stand alone, united by a common menu. An extensive array of beers, typically populated by local craft brews, rounds out the offering. Before ordering our lunch, I chose a Central 28 Show Pigeon IPA, one of my favorites from that nearby brewery. It didn’t last long. Refill, please. For our food choices, I went with the Enlightened Spinach Salad, which includes spinach (of course), dried cherries, diced apples, and glazed pecans. I held off on the sheep’s milk feta cheese, and kept the vinaigrette dressing. My wife went with the same salad, but with the feta. She also added a slice of pizza, as it is a special offering on the lunch menu. I would have had a slice of the vegan pizza, but it is not available by the slice. That’s my only complaint, but I understand that it’s not always possible to do this, given it is a narrow customer category. In previous visits I have had pizzas and tempeh sandwiches, all of which were great. All told, MM is among a very few number of chain restaurants I actually like. Consider that high praise."

"What a fun restaurant! And had no idea this was a chain. Visiting the Sanford area, and we were looking for pizza and stumbled across this place. At first, it fits the vibe of the greater Orlando area, as it seems like something out of a resort town, with its outrageous decor and tribute to all things Americana (loved the Statue of Liberty lady at the door, the pizza box Christmas tree, and the guitar and instrument-inspired lighting fixture. The bar is also prominently placed and looked great decorated for the holidays. The beer list is large and there is a good selection of local beers worked into the menu. We both had pizza and thought it was solid. Would definitely be back, and a similar restaurant would do great where I'm from."

"Great spot! Our Fridays usually involve grabbing some delicious pizza and drinks after work, and this place has become our go-to spot. Mellow Mushroom's pizza selection is excellent, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The place is clean and very casual, making it even more inviting. We enjoy sitting at the bar, sipping on drinks, devouring one of their amazing pizzas, and engaging in enjoyable conversations with the bartenders, who are all outstanding. It's the perfect way to unwind and kickstart the weekend!"
