First Steps Academy

"My granddaughter attended First Steps Academy for five years, and I cannot say enough fantastic things about this school and the teachers. The director, Emily Coutras, was wonderful, so very sweet and compassionate. It was easy to see how much she loves the children in her care. She seemed to know the names of every single child and their parents. It was pretty impressive. More than once I saw her interact with her staff. She was as patient with them as she was with the children. I loved that they had the Brightwheel program. I received reports and pictures of my grandbaby on a regular basis. The transformation of the building over the five year span was phenomenal. They installed brand new carpet, all new lighting, new playgrounds, and new paint and cute, cheerful vinyl decals on the walls in every classroom. You should see the decal on the wall in the office. I just loved it. When we were allowed back in the building after the Covid restrictions relaxed, we found bright, bold new paint and absolutely beautiful painted murals all the way down that very long hallway. It made you happy just to walk in and see it. My granddaughter was always happy there and loved every teacher she had. I am so thankful that she received such a good foundation at First Steps because she excelled in kindergarten and is now looking forward to first grade. Thank you First Steps and Ms. Emily for your dedication and care for my grandbaby. You were a wonderful blessing for my family."

"Affordable day care with great values. My daughter has attended First Steps for a little over a year and a half and we have loved our experience here. The teachers communicated any issues, my daughter learned so much and it was overall wonderful. We are moving onto a different school for other reasons, but will miss our family at FSA! If we have another child, I won't look anywhere else."

"Hi, my name is Jocelynn and I am the music teacher at First Steps Academy. I began teaching at First Steps in August of last year at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. Who knew what a whirlwind 2020 would turn out to be? With the hardships that COVID-19 has caused and the massive reduction in attendance that preschools are now facing, I unfortunately lost two of my preschools that I was partnered with. Fortunately, with the excellent safety measures and hard work from the team and leaders at First Steps, they have been able to continue to keep their doors open and provide childcare for their families. Because of this, I too have been able to continue to provide learning with music and a much needed sense of normalcy. My family and I are so grateful that First Steps has worked so hard to supply me as well as their entire team with consistency so we are not struggling like so many people who have completely lost their incomes. My heart is so full from the love that I receive every time I am welcomed in the door from the smiling faces of the children to the warm-hearted teachers. The First Steps leaders truly care and value the learning and well-being of their students. "My boys (currently age 1 & 3) have been attending First Steps since end of April 2020. The Executive & Program Director are phenomenal leaders, easing any concerns I had due to the pandemic. They are taking all precautions to keep the children and staff safe. The staff are very caring and loving and you can tell they are happy to be working with the children. My 3 year old is getting plenty of play both inside and outside and learning through the curriculum they provide. There is always communication from the staff on what is going on in the classroom and with our children. I feel very blessed that we found such a high quality faith based childcare center . It really is a hidden gem! Both my boys are thriving at First Steps. I highly recommend this daycare"

"What a fantastic experience my niece has had in her first year at First Steps Academy! She is excited to go to school, is comfortable, happy and loves her teachers. The curriculum is well rounded touching on all areas of development and the extra added activities add that much more. The Director is professional, friendly and knowledgeable.The Bright wheel App. is wonderful for communication, photos & videos throughout the day.
