Straight Blast Gym Buford

"It’s been 8 months since my two kids joined and I must say it’s one of the best choices I made for them. I have always been a fan of the sport since way before I even had kids so when they got old enough, I started researching and touring different gyms in Gwinnett County. We live in Historic Buford but I didn’t want to choose a gym simply because of the distance so SBG was actually one of the last ones I visited. Finding a gym that not only has outstanding coaches but great leaders behind them really mattered to me because that’s the recipe for a successful team. I mustve shopped around for over a month and I won’t drop any competing gyms names but SBG really stood out to me. I could tell the gym wasnt just about ‘business’ and that the coaches werent just trying to raise fighters. That’s the vibe I got right off the bat at all the other gyms. In any sport, the coaches can either make it or break it. At SBG, there is a team of 5 coaches that lead the kids classes with Coach Montana being the head coach. Coach Montana is straightforward and isn’t the type to ever sugar coat. He teaches the kids age appropriate skills that, in my opinion, every child should know. He’s strict when he needs to be but keeps it fun. I think he knows how to be at their level when he needs to which is an important characteristic when working with children. But above all, I can tell that he genuinely cares for the kiddos and loves his job. I can go on and on about SBG and all their coaches and staff that is so welcoming to everyone that walks through the door (we see you Mr. Robert!) but to wrap things up, I’m just happy my kids not only found a great coach, but (hoping for) a life long mentor. I can’t forget all the other coaches that also work so hard for the kids, coaches Carmen, Paul, Autumn and Drew are all amazing!! Thank you so much!!"

"I could not recommend this gym enough. I started training MMA in Lynchburg, VA where I went to college. Coming home to Georgia for the summer typically meant training at home, but this past summer I was determined to find a good local gym. After trying multiple gyms in the area, I did the free trial at SBG Buford and was immediately drawn to it and its culture. After explaining my current position and future aspirations, it only took 2 classes for me to have full access to all the classes I needed to make my dreams a reality. That dream being, the opportunity to compete in my first kickboxing fight. Lucky for me, multiple fighters at the time were preparing for the local IKF fight in Atlanta. Fast forward to the day of the fight, it was such an amazing experience. I ended up winning the fight, but beyond that, the coaches truly made me feel like a professional fighter. This experience is something that I will remember forever and will always be extremely thankful for! "Everything about this gym is amazing. Great coaches. Carmen kills it in kickboxing.I don’t understand how someone so sweet can be that ruthless (in the best way possible)but we love her for it. Alex is a phenomenal Muay Thai coach and great teacher. And James in performance will not hesitate to step in and correct your form so you can get the most out of your workout and is hands down one of the most knowledgeable trainers I’ve ever worked with. The over all feeling of this gym is a huge sense of belonging. My son started years ago and after watching him bloom in self confidence under the leadership of this incredible team of coaches I joined shortly after.
