"We (Mother-in-law, wife and I) decided to try this newly opened restaurant in Pulaski, VA. Since this is our “hometown” which has struggled to draw in and sustain business for decades, I wanted to be able to post a very positive review and hope the business can thrive. The dining room is beautiful—a spacious yet modern renovation of an old warehouse. Another reviewer posted pictures of the dining room, so there was no need to repeat that. The server was a friendly and welcoming. Drink orders arrived quickly. Our entrees were: American Burger ($13), Cowboy Burger ($15) and Old Fashioned Chopped Streak. She told us that preparation of the steak and burgers might take a little longer than expected. Truthfully the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but I appreciated her forewarning us. Chips and salsa was provided like any mexican restaurant. Nothing special here. I prefer more rustic salsa, but my wife was quite happy with their very basic mild salsa. Here’s the rundown on our entrees. The chop steak was a reasonable sized portion covered with brown gravy and two side dishes. My mother-in-law said it was quite good. Her sides were a roasted creamy corn served with tortilla chip and broccoli. The roasted corn was okay. The smoky, roasted flavor of the corn did not integrate into the creamy sauce. She definitely did not like the broccoli. It was minimally cooked and seasoned with a touch of butter and Italian seasoning. I tried a little and have to agree the flavor and minimal cooking was disappointing. The two different burgers were served on brioche buns and were accompanied with a large order of well seasoned french fries. The burgers were good, but the fries were the best part of the meal. I think that the hamburger patties were too small. I would have been much happier if the order of fries was half as much and the hamburger patty was a little larger. Bottomline, I wanted to give a strong endorsement, but I can’t. Looking over the rest of the menu, the most of the plated entrees ranged from $18 to $22. Steaks were priced at $28 and above which is concerning for a small, moderate income town like Pulaski. I guess they are counting on the traveling guests of the colocated hotel pay those prices. Nonetheless to be fair, we will give it another try in a few months to see how it matures."

"“You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.” Will Rogers. We dined at Casa Cancun over the weekend. Unfortunately, it was not a good first impression. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. When our waitress came to take our drink orders, she didn’t know what an Arnold Palmer(half tea/half lemonade) was, therefore one person in our party of four did not get what was ordered. When ordering our entrees, it was communicated clearly our meal choices. The waitress was not familiar with the menu, and could not answer our questions concerning entrees. When our food was brought out, one person in our party did not get what they ordered. It was completely different from what was ordered. If the kitchen was short on ingredients, then that should’ve been explained when the order was taken. However, the substitute meal was excepted. When our bill was presented to us, we were charged full price for the original entree. We were not given the courtesy of a price reduction for their mistakes and miscommunication. In the restaurant business, a flippant apology to smooth things over isn’t enough. First impressions DO count."

"Excellent new Mexican restaurant located in the Jackson Park Inn hotel. The restaurant took the place of Al’s on First. The restaurant is very nice and has a great atmosphere. Food was incredible and the service was even better. There is also a small bar if you want to grab a quick drink. Would recommend both the restaurant and the hotel (which is now part of the Choice hotel network)"
