"My son and I visited on February 3, 2024. We drove 45 min and it was our first time visiting the restaurant. The outside parking was plentiful. The building was cozy and had a nice vibe. The wait staff are amazing and friendly! I had the catfish, butterfly shrimp, fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, BBQ sandwich and sweet tea. Everything was a 5 except the BBQ sandwich. My son had a chopped BBQ plate with stew, slaw and came with slices of white bread and sweet tea. The stew is pureed and covered half my son's plate. I'm guessing this is a regional way of having Brunswick stew but it's not very appealing to the eye. Maybe having it in a bowl would have been more appetizing. The BBQ was not offensive but being from South Carolina where it's cooked with wood, low and slow with a home made sauce and a nice bark it just seemed with this BBQ shortcuts were taken. I will be back for more catfish, shrimp, slaw, fries, hush puppies, sweet tea and the friendly staff!!"

"Met an old friend for lunch. We both selected the catfish and shrimp. Instead of fries, I ordered onion rings, which is extra. We both though the catfish was excellent, but the shrimp was a packaged food service product. Although the shrimp was good, fresh would have been much better. The onion rings were excellent. The sweet tea was almost as good as GrandMa's. The service was excellent, those ladies know how to take care of their diners. Next time we are looking forward to trying the BBQ and Brunswick stew!"

"Food was fine - nothing special. The Brunswick Stew was what we called “hash” in South Carolina and was usually served over rice but here it was in a bowl with a few slices of white bread. Our waitress was super nice and we were delighted to hear her sing Happy Birthday to a fellow patron. We’d come back but order something different. We found out too late that the catfish was their specialty!"

"We moved to AZ 10 years ago and we have missed places like this every since. Gumlog is an excellent southern fish camp and BBQ restaurant. There aren't many of these types of restaurants left but here's to hoping Gumlog lasts forever. Service is true southern hospitality. We had flounder, catfish, tilapia and brisket. ALL were phenomenal. And you have to get some Brunswick stew. They don't have Brunswick stew in AZ. Gumlog alone, makes me want to move back... Man I miss it"
