"I was there in July for Ukrainian festival.. well, I guess it could not be worse. Place looks so beat up and in a desperate need of renovation. So old and unwelcoming. It was very hot day and it was not a single place to cool off. All AC were turned off. Food was OK, performers did their best under the circumstances. But I would never go back to this place again. Not to mention, they charge money for their hotels like it’s Hilton."
"My family and I stayed there for 2 nights at the beginning of August 2023. I really wanted to dive into the Ukrainian atmosphere, but it wasn't possible if any Ukrainian festival did have a place there. I was very disappointed about dinner. It's overpriced ($35 + per person) for very limited buffet options with no Ukrainian dishes choice. I don't recommend ordering food in this place - it's a lot of options nearby. We stayed in a building called Kyiv (because of nostalgic feelings) in room 10. It is a pretty big room (2 double beds + sofa bed) with a huge balcony with an amazing view on the mountain. We were alone in this building for 3 days, and it was pretty cool to be in a deeper touch with our surroundings. In my opinion, Kyiv is the best choice for staying there. Also, the Ukrainian resort has a huge area of wood with few beautiful trails. The yellow one was outstanding - we got an amazing view from the cliff. If you want to live in a very peaceful environment with some Ukrainian touch , it's not a bad choice. But be ready to bring some food or find some places to eat. Or come here with friends for festivals."
"Famous Ukrainian Festival is back! Amazing people, wonderful concert. It will require some time for the center itself to recover from pandemic downtime."
"I just finished up a weekend at Soyuzivka with some friends. It was my first time at Soyuzivka, but obviously I was aware of the great legacy of the place beforehand. All possible safety measures were put in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. As such, it seems the grounds were operating a half-capacity and Soyuzivka was mostly empty save for a few groups staying in the cabins and the pool on Saturday & Sunday. The staff is overwhelmed and also reduced to a core team and this leads to a more hands-off approach when it comes to guests, but you can look at this as a positive and just enjoy your time in the beautiful nature. My friends and I roamed the grounds endlessly, explored the trails, lounged wherever we felt like it, and made the most of our trip from NYC. We were all in the Chernivtsi building, which was fun because we had the building to ourselves. It was great to hang out on the small deck in the evenings and enjoy the stars and the sounds of the forest. It’s not a new building, it’s shabby-chic, it’s not a five star Manhattan hotel, there are bugs and mosquitos, there are some things that can be repaired - but none of these things are critically terrible and the rooms meet the most basic needs. I highly recommend visiting Soyuzivka this summer, if only to support this great Ukrainian institution, but plan accordingly and plan on a DIY vacation. The possibilities are endless!"
"Слава Україні! Героям слава! Soyuzivka is truly a gem. Situated in the Catskills of New York, this place is one of a kind. Nowhere else in North America can you feel as close to Ukraine as here. Ukrainian culture can be found at every corner- from the woodworking details, to architectural style, artwork and even the landscape (reminiscent of the Carpathian mountains). Its nice to be able to have a location to connect with others who share the same culture, lineage, history, language, and culinary traditions. The Ukrainian festival is held in the summertime and definitely worth checking out and supporting."
