About the Business
Grimes Glen Park is a picturesque tourist attraction located at 4703 Vine Street in Naples, New York, United States. The park, which officially became a public park in 2008, is known for its beautiful waterfalls and rich history. Visitors are encouraged to park in the municipal lot on Mill Street as parking at the park is limited and does not accommodate large RVs or trailers.
Grimes Glen Park is home to the oldest fossilized tree in New York, the Naples Devonian Tree, which was discovered in the glen in 1882. The park has a long history of public access and community involvement, with the Friends of Grimes Glen (FroGG) group providing support for park maintenance and public outreach events.
In addition to its natural beauty and historical significance, Grimes Glen Park features a newly constructed pedestrian bridge with artwork by local artist Darryl Abraham. The park also offers a digital trail extension called Seasons In the Glen, which allows visitors to experience the park in all seasons through videography by David O. Brown.
Whether you're interested in exploring the waterfalls, learning about the fossilized tree, or simply enjoying the natural sights and sounds of the Finger Lakes region, Grimes Glen Park is a must-visit destination in Ontario County.
Reviews
"Beautiful park, the hike can be a bit daunting. The trails are a bit difficult to navigate along the water. They are narrow and rocky, so proper footwear is a must. Tall boots are helpful to walk through the water, again being careful because the rocks get slippery."
"Childhood memories swirled around me on my most recent visit. Fun times playing in the falls and skimming rocks. Still as beautiful and spiritual as ever."
"In summer, a lush creek park with a short trail and several waterfalls. If you want to reach all the waterfalls, bring sandals or water-socks - the maintained trail stops after roughly half a mile, and the rest of the park follows the creek bed that tumbles over sharp shale. Good place to see big hemlock trees and ferns galore. I only wish the trail extended further - perhaps a future Finger Lakes Land Trust or Eagle Scout project?"
"Amazing way to cool off during our humid and hot days. Beautiful soothing sounds of water trickling along the creek. The white noise of the bigger falls is soothing and beckons one to stop for a moment and enjoy the beauty of what you are seeing and hearing. All your senses will be firing during your hike. Bring your water shoes or sandals and a change of dry clothes. Nature beckons....."
"This place is a gem. Visited on a beautiful late October Saturday, what a treat. Easy to find, very close to the main road through Naples. Imagine it might not be as easy to hike when the creek is running high, but that wasn't the case during our visit, so we hiked the trail and the creek bed. This place is perfect for lovers of waterfalls, the ones found here are beautiful. The scenery is stunning at several points as you head up to the falls. Suggest wearing good hiking shoes or boots, there are several areas along the way that are slippery. This is a great hike for anyone who is in decent shape. One note: ease heed the signs asking you to carry out your garbage, was disappointed to see some inconsiderate person left empty cans at the base of the first waterfall, not cool! Highly recommend."
