"Are you looking for a family friendly studio for all ages and all abilities with a flexible schedule thats open to working with all individuals even financially for low income families? Stop on by Owens Martial Arts and talk with Sensi John Merritt!! Over the past 4 years, my family members and I have traveled almost an hour to the studio several times a week to participated in karate classes at Owens Martial Arts. There are closer studios to our home but we drive the extra distance because of the respect, the open hearts, and encouragement of self growth. This studio was one of the only places that was willing to work with the special needs individuals that are more challenging to teach. This studio has opened the door to these individuals and has taught all of them so many skills that amaze me of their self growth. Some individuals have gained so much skills they now have started to compete in tournaments and have won metals. Majority of this time, at the studio we have all had the honor to be taught by Sensei John Merritt. Starting out Sensi struggled to figure out how to teach special needs as he never had the experience before. He worked hard and taught himself how to be a different leader that was able to teach all abilities. He now does a phenomenal job. He teaches individuals to reach their fullest and beyond. Sensi allows his class to help decide what they need help with and individuals set self goals every 3 months to work on anything. Sensei then follows up by assisting each person to work toward their self goals. my family and I plan to continue being apart of the wonderful studio."
