"I am a bass guitar player in an amateur folk/blues band who has always liked the sound of the mandolin. I bought an Eastman MD315 mandolin about four years ago, but never really did much with it. I began taking mandolin lessons through the Penfield Guitar School a year ago. Not feeling comfortable with in-person lessons during the pandemic, I took the option of online lessons. I have a weekly personal lesson via FaceTime. I was initially a little skeptical of how effective an online lesson could be, but it works surprisingly well. My instructor, Patrick, is a doctoral student in music at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. He is a very good teacher, and I think that I have progressed pretty far in only one year. I have found him to be very responsive to working on things that I am interested in, which often includes how best to play with other musicians. Highly recommended."
