Abiko Curry

"Heard so much good things about this place. didn’t have enough time to dine in so ordered Herb chicken curry takeout. And here is what I got. Looks NOTHING like what they have on the menu. I understand it’s takeout you can’t make it fancy but at least don’t make the rice look like it’s from someone else’s plate? Lost my appetite soon as I opened the boxes. And this cost me $20+. Very very disappointed. If you want to try this place, don’t EVER order takeout."

"Yes it’s popular, but $38 for a single curry + beer is steep. You can definitely get better japanese curry in NYC, but if you’re a tourist and you don’t know any better, and you’re itching for curry, Abiko is the pick for you. The curry was too runny and watery in my opinion and I’m surprised to see that one person can get charged $38 for a single portion and still have a smaller portion served. Inflation and stagflation at the same time. Also the waiter forgot my beer and rushed me out, but I’ll note that this was the end of the year."

"Came here after cycling 45 miles from Long Island. Joined 2 gals for dinner and looking for some new flavors. Waited about 5 minutes before getting a table at 6:30 pm on a Friday. Staff was kind enough to let me park my bike inside. The menu was easy to order and service was quick. I believe the noodles were udon style. Curry was flavorful but beef slices were skimpy. Noodle portion also insufficient. Hunger was still present after I finished the meal. It’s okay to try something new. You won’t know if it’s good or not unless you do…."

"Delicious meal! Food came out quick and staffs are attentive; always walking around making sure your water is fill. Portion is reasonable for the price and is authentic. I was satisfy to find that this place dont play around with spiciness level - I picked “spicy” and as someone who have high spiciness tolerance, felt the kick which is rare. I also appreciate the self-serviceness of having amenities available in a drawer at your table which underline this place as a good being in and out place. Look forward to coming back to try more dishes. A watch-out that they do charge 4% surcharge if you pay with credit card. Wish they make this known earlier before getting to check part."

"Have visited multiple times, one of my favorite spots in the area. The creamy curry is my favorite so far, I don't think there's anything you can really go wrong with here though. The spiciness levels are pretty coherent, I enjoy a mild spicy (2), it ramps up a bit at the next spicy level. I've had friends who regularly eat extremely spicy food get the highest level you can go and enjoy it, so take that for what it is if you're looking for some really spicy food."
