"We were traveling and the weather was not good. We googled places to.eat near the airport in Syracuse. We thought we would try it, and we are very glad we did. When we first went in, it was chilly, and we got.a.table under a ceiling fan. We mentioned it to our server. She immediately turned it off and really warmed up the room. The food was some of the best Italian we have had in years and the service was outstanding. I strongly recommend it to anyone wanting a great place for Italian food in Syracuse."

"My wife & I stopped in at Basil Leaf on a snowy night, just an hour from closing time. Ordinarily we wouldn’t do that, but it had been a tough day without any decent food, and the weather reduced us to walking over from our hotel room. Candice met us at the front and assured us they were open for another hour and it was just fine, then brought us to a table. The food was fantastic, from the soup of the day (a seafood chowder that was perfect for the weather) to the fabulous pasta dishes (rigatoni ala vodka with shrimp and shrimp franchese). Candice was wonderful: checking in on us, filling glasses, and chatting with us. Just a great experience, all around. Huge shout out to Candice for being perfect, to the chef for his creations, and to the staff in general for being willing to take us in late on a nasty weather day. Thank you!"

"Ambiance was good. Service was slow, and staff didn’t know the menu very well. Ordered angel hair and baked eggplant. Wine order was wrong, and when it came the wine was inferior. Food took a long time to come out, and portions were generous. Pasta was soft, and sauce was chunky with no flavor. Eggplant was advertised as homemade and baked- but tasted fried and was heavily breaded, lightly sauced and had very little flavor. Staff was friendly, but not recommending anyone to this restaurant."

"Passing through Syracuse: My first time visiting this restaurant. My sister and I enjoyed a meal together. She had chicken Marsala but complained that the sauce was too runny. I had the stuffed tortellini and it was delicious. Overall, quite happy with our meal and the service. The employees sitting at a table by the exit and talking unkindly about another employee was very unprofessional. I sat beside the door waiting for sister to come out of the bathroom and it didn’t phase them, they spoke freely and frankly about what they thought of their coworkers- must be a rough place to work."
