The Lodge at Duke Medical Center 2306 Elba Street, Durham, NC 27705

"Went on a business trip. Room/hotel was clean. But customer service is needed. I will not stay here again and neither will the organization I came with. 1st customer service to make the reservation was a hassle. We had a group rate coming with a very large organization and they booked 2 reservations for me by accident. Then getting to the hotel explaining that 2 of out 3 days are billed to organizations master account. I had to pay for one night. Paid cash at check out and when I checked later my bank account was charged for room. I called and they said it was an accident and they would reverse the charges. Although they tried to be kind at front desk the girls both need some training on how these kind of reservations work. It took the front desk girl 30 mins to check me out because she couldn't understand that it was being billed to a master account. So for this reason we will not be using this hotel again. I had to call hotel to bring it to their attention that my bank account was charged. Really a hassle. It wasn't just the front desk. It was the person in the reservations department that was just as difficult to set up correctly from the beginning. I let others in our organization of the experience and we will not be using them again."

"If you need a place to stay near Duke, this will do the trick. But the rooms are a bit loud, sort of hard surfaces where you'll hear through the shared door if there are people next door. The shade or blinds weren't really thick at all and so outside lights shown through all night which was pretty annoying. The person who checked me in was super nice, affable and it was a simple process."

"The Lodge is right across from Durham VA medical center and also across from Duke hospital. Nice, friendly and caring staff. Could not have stayed at a better place. I was was allowed to leave my vehicle in their parking lot after check out until 5 pm. This was a plus while my husband was in the VA hospital. Of if needed to check out a little late, they allowed that also. Will definitely stay here when we go back. The rooms and beds were clean, nice clean bathroom with good water pressure. The staff have been exceptional! Always ask ask how things were after my husband’s surgery."

"We've stayed here twice so far and we're very pleased! Finding a nice roll in accessible room can be hard. The beds were clean and comfortable! Our views from both 501 and 701 were nice. Great water pressure, clean rooms. The staff have been exceptional! We arrived late afternoon to find fresh baked cookies and coffee. The manager helped bring my luggage up without hesitation after not being able to get a luggage cart. Mrs Jenelle was so kind while checking out! I watched as she assisted a couple of older visitors helping them secure their cash. It makes you feel good to see folks who care! Mr Harry has shuttled us to Duke for appointments with soft relaxing music and a clean van. He's very pleasant! Many of the employees have been long serving. That says something to me. We look forward to many future stays. Everyone is very kind!"

"Great service and very comfortable, clean rooms. It's right next to the hospital, but it was quiet and dark enough that I didn't notice the ambulances, traffic, or helicopters. The parking lot dumps you onto the road in a very convenient location to either enter the hospital's parking deck or to the patient pick up area."
