"Best cup in town and at times best I’ve ever had. Doug is the best. Been coming here basically since the beginning. If you wanna learn something he’s usually down to share some awesome coffee info. Good energy and the freshest and strongest coffee you can get around here for sure."

"I just moved to Syracuse and was looking forward to trying this coffee shop after reading the positive reviews. I’d worked in artisanal coffee in Seattle and NYC for years and have been struggling to find a decent roastery in Syracuse. I stopped in today, told the owner it was my first time in and that I’d like a cup of coffee and some beans. He explained that he was only roasting and serving dark roast by the end of the week, so I replied that I’d actually come back on Monday for some light roast beans and just buy a cup to-go for today. He interrupted me mid-sentence to say “try this because you don’t know what you’re talking about” and pushed a sample at me. I interjected, “I do, I’ve worked in coffee in Seattle and NYC for several years.” I took a sip, was underwhelmed by the dark roast (as I knew I would be), and explained that I know I’m not particularly fond of dark roast, which is why I’d rather wait to purchase a full bag of beans. I’ve been drinking good coffee for over a decade and by now I know what I like. I was so thrown off by his arrogance that I decided to not even buy a cup and turned around and left. I’m a young woman and it seemed as though that’s why he profiled me and assumed I “didn’t know what I was talking about.” If not for his flagrant disrespect, I would have purchased a cup today, come back for light roast beans on Monday, and likely returned as a repeat customer for the rest of my time in Syracuse. Folks who don’t know much about coffee sourcing, roasting, and all other aspects of the business might be impressed by his know-it-all attitude, but I’m not impressed by being spoken down to while eagerly trying to support a local small business."

"Great unique place with good coffee! Stop in and meet Doug (the owner). I was on my way back to Rochester from East Syracuse. I Googled "coffee near me" and Kind Coffee had a good review, so I decided to stop. After an awkward moment, I soon realized they only accept cash. Embarrassed, I said "I'm sorry, I don't have cash, I was traveling and found you on Google." Doug, seemingly unfazed, asked where I was from and poured me a fresh cup of coffee. Again I said " I don't have any money, just credit." He said, "it's cool man, next time you're in the area stop and pay me, or don't, whatever." Then, after a long conversation about coffee (he roasts all his own) he gave me a 1/4lb of Jamaican blue mountain (another good faith sale). Anyhow, one of the best, most memorable coffee experiences I have had. It's worth a visit, if for nothing else but to meet Doug. By the way, I did stop back and pay!"
