"This is a beautiful restaurant… the food is very good overall. The drink service was a little bit slow… but they were busy. I thought the Peking duck was delicious, but too fatty. There’s another dish with chili chicken and it is mostly chilis… Not enough chicken. The sesame seed dessert is a must have. Hutong is a great place to go with a group so that you can try as many unique dishes as possible."

"The interior space is gorgeous, and the food was good. I’ve been here both for a private event and a weekday lunch. The passion fruit mocktail and the bao buns (of every kind) are fantastic. The mapo tofu and mushroom bao are particularly good, and they make the mushroom bao look like little mushrooms! There is a prix fixe lunch menu (the soup was okay, and the mapo tofu main was quite hot). Good vegetarian options. While my experience of the food was good and it’s great to have Chinese food that’s elevated and not takeout, the real reason to visit Hutong is the interior space and atmosphere, particularly for dinner seatings."

"Hutong is like an art deco jewel box that serves elevated, refined Chinese cuisine. The vibe, though, is laid-back and welcoming. My favorite selections from the dinner menu include the Peking duck (a must-have), the golden prawns, the wasabi okra and the calamari flowers. The eggplant tempura, while artfully plated like all the dishes, does not have a crunchy batter that one may expect. The Chinese broccoli is understated and well-seasoned. Overall the service is polite and unhurried but it would have been nice to have been also offered the restaurant week menu than having to ask for it."

"I was last at this location when a French restaurant was in its place many years ago. Hutong's decor is absolutely stunning, the building the restaurant is in is spectacular, and the service today at the bar area was great. Keep in mind, though, that Hutong is not a place to come for Michelin star quailty food. My meal today was solid but not outstanding. After today's experience, I see Hutong as more of a "come for the atmosphere" type of place like Tao or Zuma. Supposedly, a DJ comes at night, and this place gets packed in the bar area. I believe it!"
